Fuck, I don't want to play on medium, at least High (gtx 760) edit: at 60fps ofc
Only thing 770 has gave me trouble on is ultra-ing textures on watch dogs despite it saying you only need 4gb i guess thats where my doubt comes from but port-wise this is probably better
Also the 4gb 770 is a bit gimped due to bus width and such.
Fuck, I don't want to play on medium, at least High (gtx 760)
I'm pretty sure you should be able to pull off atleast 30+fps on High with a GPU like that
770 can run anything so you'll probably be able to do ultra settings, it's well above the recommended after all
Something that absolutely shattered my dreams is Watch Dogs. I got 5 fps on high, I shit you not. Seems Ubisoft still A) can't port worth a shit and B) haven't figured out how to do multi-GPU games
Thank you for thinking of older gen computers Rockstar, you rock.
now the only thing keeping me from buying is mod support. hopefully rockstar doesn't do anything to restrict SP modding
now the only thing keeping me from buying is mod support. hopefully rockstar doesn't do anything to restrict SP modding
Rockstar hasn't supported mods since Hot Coffee, that doesn't mean they're going to stop us from modding the game, just like GTA IV. However they will take action against players who cheat.
Hopefully a 660 can run it at least Medium. People who feel like they NEED an upgrade and they have a 760 should reconsider, because my 660 still runs stuff fine.
:/
Hopefully this just means the online portion will be unplayable on modded installs, or that they have ways in place to just not load modded assets, so something that lets people mod the game without changing the original assets themselves
770 can run anything so you'll probably be able to do ultra settings, it's well above the recommended after all
Nah.
while recommended spec systems should manage 1080p and meet 60fps on medium settings

Recommended Specs: Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD7870 2GB

I'm pretty sure you should be able to pull off atleast 30+fps on High with a GPU like that
30 fps? What am I, a console player? :v:
i meant them locking down their game to make modding difficult or impossible. they could, for all we know, lock everything up and make script loading not possible
Even if they made it more difficult to do, that won't stop the PC community from successfully modding the game.
Hopefully this just means the online portion will be unplayable on modded installs, or that they have ways in place to just not load modded assets, so something that lets people mod the game without changing the original assets themselves
hmm, perhaps the option showing up when you click play to launch either online or SP means there actually is a separate client, would make it a lot easier to pull something like this off
I have a 680, which should be fine, but I'm looking to upgrade to a 780ti any day now, which should be more than enough, right?
A friend of mine wanted to buy a 780Ti recently but our local shops don't sell them anymore and they said the 780Ti is no longer in production to promote the 900 series. Couldn't be bothered to research if it's true or not seeing as I already own one. :v:
The option to go online or SP from the launcher is just something that adds launch options to the same exe. It's not a different client. The reason R* can't really support mods in multiplayer is because of the way these games work, and always have worked. The only way to mod certain things is to replace the original files with new ones, except for in the case of GTA IV and V where now we have DLC slots with which we can add new cars and guns - wouldn't work in online unless the server had the extra cars installed and downloaded them to the clients, which is highly unlikely. Everything else you can mod must be replaced, which means your client would be loading different content from everyone elses', and if you know anything about online games you know that just can't work. So the logical solution would be to prevent anyone with replaced assets from loading online or to simply have servers that allow new assets and servers that only run stock games. I would be willing to bet it'll be the first one. I don't think R* specifically discourages modding, I just think that it would be too much for them to handle with the online aspect so modding will probably have to be limited to single player.

Hell I remember playing with some dudes who had flying cars mod and they would do sky crash derby with passengers shooting at each other. That was fun too. From the sound of it none of that will be possible in V because Rockstar is being an ass.

And I suspect that now DLC loading will probably be far more integrated then it was in GTAIV, it will be even easier to set up mods in a way that retains the original files
Nah.
but the 770 isn't a 660 at least it'll get high settings EDIT: then again, a 770 is literally an overclocked 660 so what am I saying

But then there's the thing were if they were to do that, and let's say you could log on to a modded server and have it automatically download any added content, that would usually be really cool, but I'd be super annoyed to have my DLC car and weapon slots full of dragon dildos just because I logged into a shitty server. I think it'll probably be tough to find a middle ground but if they do and mods are at all even slightly supported, I'll love rockstar even more. There will be mods though, regardless, this is one thing I can say for sure.
hmm, perhaps the option showing up when you click play to launch either online or SP means there actually is a separate client, would make it a lot easier to pull something like this off
It's not separate at all. The online launcher is just the same exe with some launch parameter to load straight into online.
60fps is all fine and dandy, but do we know if there is support for monitors with a higher refresh rate, like 120hz?
Bit late here but one of the folks from PC Gamer who saw it running and was answering questions in the comments says it can. A polish website interview reguarding modding.
Regarding modding: Although Rockstar haven't provided gamers with a dedicated SDK, they have confirmed that game's 'modding possibilities' are at least comparable with those known from GTA IV.
Just as I expected.
So in reality you need to basically hack the game apart or wait for someone who can to make specific tools for things like vehicle swaps/mod loaders?
Well fuck, I'm not buying this game for a while then.
I have a 5770, AMD 555BE quadcore and 4GB RAM, guess I won't be playing GTA:V. I figured those specs were too good to be true.
A polish website interview reguarding modding. Just as I expected.
Would we expect anything more? Besides potential with the assets, engine and otherwise, I imagine something like the skateboarding mod for IV will probably be the same (and hence awkward) with V, and with 59 gigs versus 16 or so, I doubt the modding scene will kick off as accessibly as IV's did without some time given to it.
A polish website interview reguarding modding. Just as I expected.
Didn't GTA:IV lock down modding for the longest time though? I remember having to use tons of roundabout executable files because the game refused to load modified cache files, among other annoyances.
