So when do we get Gmod on cryengine
gmod will never get a new engine.
waah lense flare i'd rather stare at the sun with no effect than have something that tries to emulate the effects of looking at the sun and adding graphical immersion.
waah lense flare i'd rather stare at the sun with no effect than have something that tries to emulate the effects of looking at the sun and adding graphical immersion.
but you don't get lens flares in real life from looking at the sun [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] so far it seems like lens flares are only added because "look, we can do them convincingly too!" i'd much rather just have a sun glare effect like in HL2, which is what actually happens when you look at the sun
beautiful i don't care if it's not realistic realistic is boring, i'd rather have it look like a movie [editline]10th August 2012[/editline]
Well he IS wearing a visor, but not one built of multiple lens elements so the kind of lens flare used doesn't make much sense.
it could have multiple lenses he can zoom in lolz
but you don't get lens flares in real life from looking at the sun
I have glasses and I can see a star-like flare when looking at the sun. Without glasses it just blooms but I'd rather see flare than bloom in the game. BF3 flare is annoying but this doesn't look too bad. Since you're wearing this futuristic multi-featured visor the unrealistic flare doesn't bother me much. Last time I checked crysis was meant to look good, not simulate real lenses.
Unreal Engine 4 still has a better GI solution than this current version of Cry Engine 3. It seems like UE4's GI takes care of all ambient lit areas, while CE3 still uses one color value for ambient lit areas. Also note that UE4 calculates indirect lighting from all light sources, not just the sun like in CE3. There's my two cents. I'm no graphics programmer, but I am an obsessive lighting artist taking close observation.
And it's a console game. This means there's going to be less wide-open areas because of the amount of stress it can put on a console. Not to mention the bigger load times it gives them. I hate screaming "hurr consolization" but I can't think of another reason to make levels smaller with advancing technology.
you do realise Crysis 1 was ported over to the Xbox yes
Well, if they managed to put a large game like Crysis on consoles, I don't see why they can't make Crysis 3 the same size.
Excuse me, but why am I being rated dumb?

The Xbox version looks almost as good as the PC version. The only problems that the Xbox version suffered from was frame rate dips when there was a lot of action going on in an area and the simplified controls not working very well. i like the soundtrack
The Xbox and PS3 version of Crysis 1 really look good for being ported to consoles.
The point is, console hardware wasn't the reason crysis's open worlds got fucked over.

Does it look like that in tropical areas?
Why did they make the lighting all blue like that? Does it look like that in tropical areas?
They needed something to reduce the drawdistance by 90%.
