F-Zero series difficult to innovate, says Miyamoto

Give me the playability that I remember from the Nintendo 64 version, but beef it up with modern bells and whistles. That's all it needs to be a good F-Zero game. What is this wind-up mouse crap they have now? It's really depressing.

It's a minigame in Nintendo Land
A nice ideal, but does Mario Kart 64 stand on it's own? Does the original Smash Bros? We can play them for nostalgia, but what Nintendo did was flat out improve on those games later. This is the state F-Zero is in right now to me. It's a series that still has yet to add some modern features and perfect what it has for as much as I love it.
Yes? Both Mario Kart 64 and the first Smash Bros. definitely stand on their own, in fact a lot of people who grew up in the 64 era still prefer them.
I'd love for them to make an fzero game for the 3ds or wii u, but nintendo's hardware is so sub par, especially with the wii u, and especially when it comes to multiplayer.
Even if they came out with one for the 3ds, the multiplayer over their online system would be glitchy as all hell and would be out of sync, and also probably could only support 6-8 people, if even that. (See Mario kart 7)
What I would really really really like, would be if some company could buy the rights to the franchise and just make a sequel to GX for PC, this way visuals can be more appealing and allowing for a better online system.
Expand upon it. Make it multi-vehicular, like jet racing. Add a story mode and expand upon characters.
And shit. I'd love an F-Zero on the 3DS. 3D might look amazing.
nothin wrong with hd remakes
Nintendo fans are just too hard to please. I honestly feel bad for Nintendo. I'm just glad they've held on for so long considering Nintendo has been with us almost since the beginning.
I don't think that that need to innovate such a basic and amazing game;
they could totally do the same game for each new console and I'd still enjoy it
even when games get rereleased i find myself playing the classic ported maps more just for the nostalgia factor, like playing de_dust on CSGO

It's not even that, Nintendo just aren't trying. I really don't believe F-Zero is hard to innovate (especially seeing them "innovate" Super Mario bros on a yearly basis now) after seeing how racing games have evolved. Not saying racing games of this generation are "the best", but seeing how their physics engines and game mechanics have transformed over the years, who's to say Nintendo can't just take notes? Racing is a genre that's simple and easy to work with.
I wouldn't mind a new f zero story mode like this...

I think a great potential for the wii u and f zero is to use the game pad as a track editor.
holy shit lol that's so over the top I love it
Nintendo should follow sony's bandwagon and rerelease N64/Gamecube games with HD filters (so its not as hard work as remaking the game) like sony does it (If I remember correctly)

But there's a big difference between those racing games and F-Zero, because those games are actually supposed to be very realistic. F-Zero isn't anything like those in that sense. It's focus is on speed and manipulating the physics in the game to not just get the fastest time, but to do it without losing your vehicle.

It's not good to compare F-Zero to most of those other Racing games because F-Zero is on a class of it's own.
Innovation to Nintendo just means to add a new unnecessary and annoying gimmick.

But those "gimmicks" are what sets those games apart from their predecessors. Again, another argument with no real merit.
I want my 30 man online F-Zero races Miyamoto and I want them now.

Burnout, Split Second, WipEout and other titles were way too over the top to be "realistic".
For realism, I'd say play Forza or Gran Turismo. What I'm getting at is that if they wanted to innovate F-Zero, they could easily take notes from other racing games of a similar caliber (no, I'm not saying copy them) to make the game feel more over-the-top, powerful, and if possible, maybe even faster.
I'm a fan of the F-Zero franchise myself. But after over a decade of absence, if they did literally nothing but rehash F-Zero GX, I'd be a little disappointed.
