Icarus Effect was a much better story IMO than the actual HR game, mostly because they actually gave a ton of character depth to the Tyrants (aka the bosses you fought in HR) and other characters in the story, while HR didn't give them any exposition. The female protagonist (the one that wasn't Ben Saxon, can't remember her name) was also a pretty interesting character.
Also, it had Gunther!
I'm really glad that the "sequel" appears to take characters/plotlines from the book.
