Tier 1? Is that like, the new Mary-Sue of MoH? I thought it was the nigh invincible, super soldier, death machine protagonist.
No, Tier 1 is the name of pretty much the most elite special ops groups in the US army who are usually picked from other special forces groups. They didn't just make it up.
Apparently its focuses from preacher (from the first game), and that they're trying to make the story based around the affects of war on the family/personal life or something. I'm a bit worried that they're just blowing that angle up and it'll have minimal meaning to the story, especially since the game will put you in the shoes of other elite soldiers from different countries. Too many characters might make it harder to relate to one, which is what I've felt in most singleplayer fps campaigns recently. But as Danger Close has already established Preacher previously, it might make it easier. Also multiplayer has a blue on blue mode, or special forces v. special forces, so like tier 1 operators vs. the KSK, or Australian SASR vs. GROM. There's 12 elite teams in total, so whichever ones were named in that teaser trailer are on it. In an interview they said that they wanted various groups because "Kids in Poland don't dream of growing up to be Tier 1 operators, they grow up wanting to be part of GROM." Team pride and all that jazz. Also at this point its a bit hard to tell if its going to be in the Middle East or mainly in the Middle East, because the campaign level they've showed so far was set in the Philippines during a typhoon. Also they're attempting for a global release date (probably so everyone can get it day 1 and play against each other, or maybe as a symbol of respect to other countries). Of course no one on facepunch is going to buy it so this doesn't really matter. You couldn't have thought up a better subtitle?

Yeah, which is why I'm a bit concerned. The story is written by Tier 1 operators though, so that could go either way. But I'm sure that if anyone knows the effects of war, its them. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline]
Conflictbrawler
Hostilitypugilist
you'll play as a t1er wun 0perat3r with an M4 and the enemies will be idiots.
That looks like a Battlefield 3 DLC.
From Unreal Engine 3 (bloom central) to Frostbite 2 (lens flare city.) It's still gonna be shit.

Why do you think certain graphical features are some kind of impossible-to-disable features of an engine? In Unreal Engine 3 at least, you can change a lot with the lighting.
I saw JTF2 listed those names.

It'll probably be a linear corridor shooter and have a multiplayer reserved for masochists, like the previous game was.

I like the fact that they have more attention to other special forces and not just NAVEE SEEALL I hope they use an actual conflict like they did in MoH 2010 (Operation Anaconda)
Read a preview of this game in PC Gamer and it actually seems really good, like it's focused on both cinematics and story. Looking forward to some more media.
I like the fact that they have more attention to other special forces and not just NAVEE SEEALL I hope they use an actual conflict like they did in MoH 2010 (Operation Anaconda)
Their using operations based on reality, but tying them into an overall story (so hostage taking in the Philippines, or Somalian pirates, that sort of stuff)
frostbite 2 engine? oh yay bloom and lensflares on every light
Less WWII and Modern FPS games and more futuristic/fantasy FPS games please.
This. To hell with WW/Modern shooters. We are tired of those and we don't need them anymore. We've had enough. Give us something different not out of the 1930-2020 year line.
I wish they would do another era with the Frostbite 2 engine, do they really need 2 modern day shooters that look that much alike? I remember playing the beta for the previous MoH and it felt just like BC2.
Future setting would be awesome 2143 pleas
I think it looks fun
Future setting would be awesome 2143 pleas
I'd fucking love DICE if we got a 214x game on frostbite.
