Welp, that's what I get for being in a couple of threads at once with similar topics running on a little sleep and a lot of coffee. I was somehow thinking about replacing for regular users with all the new shit popping up for TV streaming. To be fair some people do just play shit games that don't need a dedicated PC for them, but yeah I doubt that gaming desktops will ever stop existing.
A tablet is just a laptop with a touchscreen and detachable keyboard anyway.
Tbh I think tablets are underestimated when it comes to the ability to play games. I know this seems biased considering the device I am posting from, but it has been shown that they have real potential. They can do FPS games surprisingly well, as shown by a Call of Duty port. They can do racing games, strategy games, sandbox adventure games, even MMOs and MOBAs. However, we're still waiting for that exclusive 'killer app' to be released. Unfortunately, I don't think that there has been as much substantial investment in the platform as there should be.
Not sure if tablets will be the end of 'gaming PCs', but they will certainly be the end of the home PC and a number of work PCs.

They are all computers
Yes, just like how fast RVs meant the end of houses.
TV for radios.
Radios for newspapers.
Internet for encyclopedia/news papers/telegrams.
History shows that humans learn nothing from history.
My literal reaction.

All these opinion pieces are fucking retarded, how dumb can these "journalists" be, and this is their field.
For real are you serious? Obviously the advantage is that you don't need to buy a computer? I mean don't get me wrong I fall so far outside this group that it seems bizarre to me but some people just only use their computers for facebook and youtube. Telling them they should get a desktop just to plug it into a larger screen is the bullshit, quite frankly
lmao, why would you buy a $600 tablet when for the same price you could build a PC with a GTX 660 and an FX-6350 that's going to outperform it in literally every single task???

No offence but the headline says 'Gaming PCs' not really difficult.
But still I agree with you, tablets may just be simply more convenient for most people for streaming media and checking emails but gaming PCs just simply can't and won't die.

Actually, laptops are evoling into that direction.

Unfortunately they are not being paid to bring the news, but to bring the readers to click the ads.
