A bit early to pre-order no?
CDPR has always sold SKU well in advance, nothing new for them.
To those saying buy it on GOG instead, I strongly disagree. I'd rather much have access to the game on Steam (There's no mention of any key for Steam, just that it's 100% DRM-Free so I doubt there's any keys coming out) and that the price is much lower on Steam, regardless of the buy-back credits on GOG. Why not just straight-out cut the pricing off instead of offering to give it back in promo codes? Why would I spend 20USD more on GOG when I can use that money on Steam or other services instead?
The Witcher 2's combat is literally a rolling simulator but if you can get past that it's probably one of the best RPGs out there
... so that's why i transitioned to DS2 so well.
... so that's why i transitioned to DS2 so well.
I'm a master at the combat in TW2 but so bad at DS1 that I can't even get the taurus demon to 50% health
Also the people who pre-ordered Duke Nukem Forever thought that they were definitely getting something good. People need to stop falling for hype.
I thought that game was going to be shit the whole time. All of the games that I have preordered have been pretty great so I trust my own judgement on these things. Projekt Red has earned my trust.
they probably need some money, that delay most likely cost them a good bit
I don't blame them for setting pre-order so early, CDPR could be an exception since they delivered so far, with a budget as big as this game most likely no wonder why it's early.
i've literally only preordered one game before in my life but i'm considering preordering this. loved TW2, fantastic game.
Pretty cool of steam to have it for the same price as GOG if you have all the games already. However, I'm still getting it from GOG so I can get all the extras that come with it
Don't preorder though.
Why the fuck not, it's not like there's much doubts about the game being good.
The price on Steam went up at some point so I saved myself £5.
Safe bet that this won't be full of bugs. Or if it is full of bugs, expect a rerelease patch after release that fixes most things.
To be fair, second game was kinda buggy. Not on the same levels as games of today, but still. First one, can't say, I bought it quite some time after release. What's safe bet is that even if it would be bug-ridden, they will fix it as soon as possible, they gave us all the reasons to be sure about that. Plus we kinda know a lot about the game at this point, it hasn't been announced yesterday (yes, BF:Hardline, I'm looking right at you with hate in my eyes), so idk why there would be much reason to actively oppose pre-ordering. I won't do it myself personally, but can't see why anyone would discourage it.
How are the first two?
tw2 is okay but movement feels really really restrictive and doesn't feel good at all. you move slowly and there's no way to jump over anything. i guess it's realistic? but in the end it's a serious detriment. that said, the story is pretty good, the characters are interesting, and there's some pretty great quests in there. combat will take some time getting used to, it can be pretty tough at times. also professional tip: upgrade your dodge move as far as possible, it makes moving from place to place faster. [editline]8th June 2014[/editline] just like you roll everywhere as link, you want to roll everywhere as geralt
Yeah prioritize the rolling skills if you get The Witcher 2. It really makes combat and movement feel better and more responsive.
This game is going to be fucking huge, seriously from what the developers are saying they are certainly pushing the boundaries of what we consider an "open world" type game. And I'll take their word on it.
Did they just raise the price from $60 to $80?
Did they just raise the price from $60 to $80?
Yes they did. It's now $4 more expensive than going to eb games and buying it from there.
Did they just raise the price from $60 to $80?
regional pricing. still $60usd.
If you're going to preorder this, do it on GOG. Save money if you own the previous games on GOG (up to 27% if you own both games), get a small additional discount for preordering, and if your local price is higher than the original USD price, you get GOG credits to compensate.
And if you don't own them on GOG, they will give you a free backup copy if you punch in your key from another service. I tracked down my witcher 1 key from the now defunct Direct 2 Drive and they took it right away. Because GOG deserves all my monies.

A friend of mine owns a box version of the witcher 2.
While I think pre-ordering is a load of bollocks and you can never trust it, CD Projekt RED is probably the single most trustworthy dev, and in recent years never failed to be awesome and develop amazing games. If I was ever going to pre-order, It'd only ever be a CD Projekt RED game.
