• DOTA 2 TRAILER IS OUT!

I want to see ingame footage first, before I think about buying it or whatever. I recognise alot of the heroes though. People have a tendancy to overhype games, so I'm really interested to see if Valve can pull this off.
dota is DUMB (User was permabanned for this post ("Alt of a permabanned user" - rilez))

Yeah sorry Valve but I'm going to skip this one, unless its FTP in which case I'll probably try it for an hour and never touch it again. DOTA games don't appeal to me
Is this really a Valve game? It's amazing how Valve is excelling on a genre they have no experience with, I can't wait to play it
I'm pretty sure they hired some of the people that made the original DOTA. Or at least people experienced with the genre.
Haha, I instantly thought of the merchant from Aladdin as well
its funny how the trailer gives one the impression that dotas gameplay is fun and exciting because it is not
its funny how the trailer gives one the impression that dotas gameplay is fun and exciting because it is not
Hey guys I don't like this game so it's absolute in-stone fact that the genre is not fun or exciting.
I'm pretty sure they hired some of the people that made the original DOTA. Or at least people experienced with the genre.
Yea IceFrog is working closely with valve on this.
its funny how the trailer gives one the impression that dotas gameplay is fun and exciting because it is not
Why post this in a thread about Dota other than to get yelled at
I played League of Legends once and some guy called me a jew becuase I didn't buy any skins.
I wasn't interested when it was announced, and the trailer didn't change that opinion. I played some LoL, it's a great game considering it's free, but I'm not sure if I'd want to get into it. I really prefer shoots and all that jazz. Sorry Valve.
its funny how the trailer gives one the impression that dotas gameplay is fun and exciting because it is not
Yeah because me and other people play dota to get bored.

So dota was created before LoL? I still prefer LoL
I'll buy it because I'm a Valve fanboy.
The only thing that kind of irks me about Dota 2 is it seems like the gameplay is going to be the exact same, just with a better engine and additional out-of-game mechanics. say what you want about LoL, Riot gets cred for having the balls to fuck with the Dota formula on such a regular basis.

Not *someothergamenamehere*. The whole point of it is being the same game polished up from Warcraft III. It kinda says so in the name itself.
Trailer is amazing, but if the gameplay hasn't been improved since DOTA 1, I think I'll pass. Graphics mean little to me. DOTA 1's gameplay was confusing boring and clunky. HoN and LoL improved on this greatly. Lets hope it isn't JUST a polished version.
It's CGI I'm going to laugh when they use Source.
They always use Source Filmmaker. Which is a filmmaker software that uses source. This is why the ragdolls from the 'Meet the' TF2 videos are also in TF2's files.

After that they just kept working with Maya more and more for lots of custom animations and shit.

It kinda says so in the name itself.
I understand that, but I have this thing with sequels where it should do new shit with the formula (IE LoL and to a lesser extent HoN) gameplay-wise. Why call it a sequel if it's the exact same thing with a new engine and maybe some relatively minor new bells and whistles? It's more like a remake than anything else then.
They also use Maya. The first TF2 video was purely TF2. After that they just kept working with Maya more and more for lots of custom animations and shit.
Yeah, they use(d) maya for the animations then import it to source.

This is also official (made by the same guy that made the first) whereas HON and LOL are fan-made/Third Party games.
Yeah, they use(d) maya for the animations then import it to source.
Yes.
Just like IW did it. Game screenshots are leaked, scramble to release trailer to overshadow leak. Stay classy Valve.
that music was so cheesy

To mention some of the changes a lot of poeople dislike. Lack of Orbwalking, lack of creep denies, lack of creep blocks, spells agroing towers and creeps. Just as some of the more prominent ones.
Compare this to DOTA and there is a major overhaul to anything. That's more than worthy of a sequel.
I guess it's a matter of perspective more than anything else, but I'd expect a remake of a mod that is how many years old now to be pretty fucking major if it was something I would pay money for.
This is also official (made by the same guy that made the first) whereas HON and LOL are fan-made/Third Party games.
I'm not sure how that proves anything, and both dev teams of HoN and LoL had people who worked on the original DoTA, Ice wasn't the only dude working on it.
Yeah and a bunch of people don't like the changes made to LoL over dota, but essentially just stick with them, because HoN was not free and essentially you can't find a dota game these days, that doesn't have at least 3 people with a maphack that's not private. Like I said it's a personal thing, and I want peeps to know that I still am excited for dota 2, I'd just like to voice some comparatively minor shit is all.
