Why does everybody hate Notch again? There's literally no reason
Stopped working on his game/added superfluous gimmicks to his game when it got popular, "released" with many mechanics still half-assed or even broken, announces projects then gives no further info on them other than "won't be working on x" "x is broken and we're gonna take a lot more time to fix it" and constantly gets into PR disasters/acts like a child (yogscast incident, this)
People who pander to Windows 8 have no eye for quality. Its really not that Win8 is an abomination, if you can't see those kind of statements as rhetoric then god help you should you turn on the news. Its more because everyone is annoyed that Microsoft is again rushing an OS out the door with a very minimal feature set that is mostly designed to attract the tablet/touch PC crowd. Microsoft removing the start button is just an example of how they make trivial changes to try and make it seem like they're doing something with the OS. If you're an avid PC user, superuser, whatever, and you can't wait to use Win8, then you're a fool. The OS wasn't built for you and yet you can't wait to use it. The same reason he's been hated since the beginning. Took the money and ran.
- The app must launch in 5 seconds or less - Your app must not stop responding, end unexpectedly, or contain programming errors
Well there goes 90% of PC games. Good thing Gabe has steam, hl2.exe would never pass the test.
What? People don't right click on the network icon on the toolbar to get to the network connections window? Easiest and fastest way.
I mean the network adapter settings where you can control your IP settings and such. I always went there with Win + R and typing "network connections". Takes me straight to it.

If Notch had agreed to make Minecraft for W8, you people would still be displeased and would be calling him a money-loving pig. Either decision he would've made he gets bashed lol [editline]27th September 2012[/editline] don't get me wrong notch is a money-grubbing pig but thats not the point

All it would really be is Minecraft on a list of Windows 8 compatible apps.
Once you install classicshell windows 8 becomes a perfect OS
Waiting for that to become default shell during install/first-boot on desktops and laptops without touchscreen. Until then lolfuckyou Windows 8
They really did stuff with the "OS" though. You click "All Apps" to well, get all apps, just like the start button does. It only takes two clicks like it did with the Start Menu. Also, run is still easy to get to. Just use explorer or press Win + R or whatever. Have any of you guys even tried out Windows 8? It's pretty much the same as 7, also Metro's got quite a few useful features so to be honest, it's even more useful than the Start menu. And like Im Crimson said, they've made improvements to the OS to help make things run faster.

Personally I am disgusted by the start screen because everytime I want to use what was the start menu, I now have to fill up the whole fucking screen with that shit, blocking out absolutely everything else I'm doing. I think that is unnecessary and obnoxious. And despite that, it doesn't even fit in more applications on the screen. I really dislike Windows move there, but Windows 8 in total looks really good, and the start screen is just something you get used to, like with everything else in life.
Notch does activism because he can afford it. Not that he's a terrible person, but in terms of PR he's like an elephant in a porcelain shop sometimes.
Leave it to Facepunch to rate anti-Windows 8 threads winners. I would just like to say, anyone who dislikes Windows 8 has obviously never used it. It's the best OS Microsoft has ever put out and all this hate is ridiculous. Don't like the app store? Don't use it. Don't like Metro? Don't use it.

Metro is forced however. People just have this delusion that the metro interface replaced the desktop, when in reality it's just the start menu turned into a fullscreen menu. We can blame news articles and Microsoft for that, not posting images of the desktop alongside the metro-styled start screen.
You can avoid to use the app store. Metro is forced however.
Start8. Haven't used Metro since the day I installed it. If you tried it before and didn't like it, try it agian, now you can theme it and do all sorts of shit and you can change it to the Windows 7 start menu.
I hate Notch just as much as the next guy, but I fully agree with him and respect him on this.

Reasoning in the discussion here.
well notch has succeeded in acting like a big baby again he should've said "no i won't put it on your app store" and leave it at that
Start8 or

"THE START MENU IS GONE AND HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A FULL SCREEN VERSION OF IT" If you're going to have something come up in the corner, why limit your view? Your eyes are fixated on that corner of the screen. Also I can find files and applications faster with Metro than I can with the start menu.
Also the argument of "WITH THE NEW START MENU I CAN'T SEARCH FOR FILES" it works identical to win7's, except you don't click a search box.

To all these game developers complaining about Windows 8, I am developing a game on Windows 8 and it's running faster. I am more productive, the multi monitor management is a VAST improvement and I am really enjoying it. I really do recommend Windows 8 to anyone who cares about performance and usability.
them boot times i had 8 on my SSD
Please show me where you found out that Microsoft wanted to get Minecraft certified just to put it in the store. As Overv said, it's just Notch being dramatic. Well, Gabe had at least a decent argument. Notch is just arguing against something that makes sense.
What exactly was Gabe's argument? All I recall was him just calling it a catastrophe and that people will leave the market without explaining why.
