• Notch refuses to help certify Minecraft for Windows 8

I don't get why everyone is just complaining about Windows 8 being shit and that we should never touch it etc. I thought it'd be shit with Metro at first, then a mate kept nagging at me to try it. At first it was a cunt, because I didn't have a clue what to do with it. After a couple of days it's much better than Windows 7 imo and the OS is much faster for me. As for all this "Microsoft is turning Windows into a closed platform" or whatever. They haven't done it yet, so stop complaining. If they do it with the next OS, then don't get that one. Windows 8 is brilliant and Metro is sexy. As for Notch, he's just being silly I think, and does seem to be over reacting.
If you get paid, why do you complain? If you don't get paid, what the fuck are you doing fixing computers for free?
I make more than enough money without fixing people's PCs. I just do it as a courtesy to people that I know and need it. They need to stop getting 32-bit operating systems in 2012.
So because he isn't the best programmer in the world his opinion doesn't matter?
Most App store certifications are actually all about programming. I bet you if they saw the horrendous quality of his coding, they'd say no.

I really hope Microsoft will eventually move to a more efficient filesystem... what happened to WinFS?
I really hope Microsoft will eventually move to a more efficient filesystem... what happened to WinFS?
The Wikipedia article on it links to this article. I'd love a filesystem that organizes things based on metadata instead of folders, but apparently nobody wanted it.
I really hope Microsoft will eventually move to a more efficient filesystem... what happened to WinFS?
They are introducing it in Win Server 2012 I believe. Going by what I read on the Wikipedia entry it won't be a bootable filesystem, so NTFS will still be used for Windows itself, but extra storage devices can use the new one.
