Wasn't it just all the Sangheili that joined the UNSC?
Not even that. They're basically two steps from going back to war. It's like if World War III happened and the Soviet Union still collapsed. Battered America has tons of threats from whatever's left behind. Same thing for the UNSC. The Arbiter only has control because he has loyalty of the majority of the former Covenant navy. The new book, Glasslands, really illustrates it all nicely. The disparate races all exist together now, but it's not peaceful, they've all gone back into their own niches. The Jackals are pirates, the Brutes either dead or sworn fealty to the Elites so that they don't get glassed, the Grunts serving with the Elites on occasion because they have nothing better to do, and humanity being pretty well off, what with Infinity and everything. Prometheans were a sect of Forerunner warriors, revered among even the highest of the warrior caste. They were decimated just before the Flood War. [editline]14th May 2012[/editline]
It won't. Forerunners are "protectors" who actively tried to preserve all life. It wouldn't make sense that they try to kill humanity since they picked humanity as their successors.
That's what we thought up until 2010. Now, it's...uh, much darker. [sp]Humanity is only just their successors. The Forerunners were actually huge dicks, only a few of them actually gave a damn to preserve humanity. The Librarian is really the only one responsible for everybody being alive. They already devolved us, the only reason they didn't go all the way was because of their inheritance (stealing) of the Mantle. They didn't choose us to be their successors, we just happened to be. The Precursors made the choice for them.[/sp]
The Watcher looks like a fleshy sentinel.
The Covenant and Humans made peace at the end of Halo 3 or whatever the fuck happened.
It's never really clear if the Covenant get annihilated when the Flood takes High Charity and the Prophets get killed off. They probably still exist, but I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the story so now the humans are taking the offensive and rebuilding their fleets. There's no telling how long Spartan-117 has been in stasis.

and even if you have not read the books, I'm sure the game will cover it, not everyone reads the books and the Chief doesn't know either so it will be explained.

Sure, the story was already pre-dictated but it had by far the best gunplay and multiplayer of the series.
Honestly Reach was my 2nd favorite Halo.

But compared to the fun and excitement that me and my friends had with Halo 3, it was just disappointing. I still play Reach from time to time im a brigadier grade 2 i think.
