Paladins copied OverWatch which copied Team Fortress 2 which is the sequel to Team Fortress Classic, which was copied from the Team Fortress Quake mod which copied Quake
The ride never ends.

The more I see this video, the more I hate it. He cherrypicked a ton of examples of "copying" without showing at any of things it does unique. Yes, Androxus has a revolver with a FtH, but everything else he does completely unique. Yes, Evie can turn into an invincible ice block like Mei, except for the fact that Evie was shown off with that skill two months before Mei was ever revealed (Sept 2015 to Nov 2015): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkKr5CXX3XA&feature=youtu.be&t=329. Once again, she also has completely different abilities compared to Mei. Lastly, he didn't even bother to show any of the unique characters that don't have an "OW equivalent". (Pip, Grohk, Rukus[Who was also shown before D.Va was ever shown. Also OW didn't invent mechas], Skye) He showed Cassie but, "lol she has a bow obviously Hanzo!" because Blizzard invented the bow & arrow right?
Look, I'm not saying (and neither are Hi-Rez) have taken inspiration from OW. The point of HirezTodd's post was that Paladins wasn't made to copy OW and goes into detail on how both games use normal game tropes and mechanics to make their characters. Games always take inspiration from other games, even OW with its characters being inspired by TF2.

It's pretty clear he's not just singling out Paladins. Considering it shows footage from TF2, Paladins, Battleborn, and OW. That it's more about how oversaturated the genre is becoming as a whole.
There IS an actual overwatch ripoff that actually rips models from it.

Quality games right here mate. I see nothing wrong.

Guess you could say that, but it certainly is making people think that it's 100% ripping it off. Not really his fault, but it is kind of feeding it.

I honestly can never tell if you're being serious or sarcastic because English isn't your first language, also text.
Congrats, you just proved my point.
its really not that innovative, LoL/dota have nearly the same exact hero ideas. Hirez just copied them and turn them into gods. instead of clicking and moving the camera, now you move your character. its a change of perspective, but the core of the game is almost exactly the same.

When we're talking about abilities like that, there's just a limit to the amount of unique abilities you can come up with for mobas and team shooters before you have to begin using stuff that has already been used before. If you look at dota 2, league of legends, heroes of the storm, smite, etc. many characters in each game all have huge overlap with each-other, which is fine! All four games have important areas where they differ.
Hell, we could even say Overwatch is a ripoff of past blizzard games if we wanted to be nitpicky. Most abilities aren't new. Ice block? Mages in world of warcraft have had that since 2004. Ice wall? Copying the sentry from SC2 I see. Her ult is essentially just a ranged version of remorseless winter from World of Warcraft. Tracer's key abilities, blink and rewind mages have had in world of warcraft too. Etc..
But even so, it would be dumb to actually insist blizz ran out of ideas and just copied their old games.
