Won’t going Free to Play mean more griefers and cheaters?
We’re increasing our focus on making sure that hostile players can’t ruin your fun. Specifically, we’ll be keeping a close eye on players exploiting the ability to make infinite free accounts to bypass bans. We’ve built systems that’ll allow us to measure and track what these players are doing, and respond quickly.
Looks like my worries from the last thread were addressed. Im happy, I bet 90% of the people whining dont actually play TF2 anymore and just want something to have a cry about. Its been 4 years, this is a good decision for Valve and the game, man up.
You paid for the game, you paid to play hundreds of hours and for 200+ FREE updates from Valve. You have no right to complain about getting your money back when you have recieved so much value for your money.
It's a great move and everyone who thinks differently should come up with different arguments than "I paid for this" and "influx of immature players". First off TF2 was already the deal of the century in the OB, and was always worth every penny of it, and secondly, playing spy will be so much easier now.
I'm okay with this, I got plenty of game play out of the money I spent, now my friends can play it when we decide to have a LAN
Nice, now I can play with my whole family and some friends to this game
"ACTIVATE THE UBERCHARGE, MOM"
This is great news.
Now some of my friends would actually get steam to play.
I knew someday TF2 will be free when they made Portal free. But I bought it for $15 anyway so no complaints.
I had to pay 50$ in Europe currency to get this from our stores, a year after it came out and now this. First Hellgate London and now this :smith:
I'm not fussed, always good to see some newbies (as long as they aren't 12) and I'm glad members who bought the game will get some extra goodies, Valve know their shit and they wouldn't turn their backs on their customers so people should just calm the fuck down already.

So three years of playing a game for that. Suddenly it becomes free and its horrible because it in no way has any sort of effect on you. Would you rather have waited a full three years just to get to play the game now for free?
Guys there is a difference between the premium accounts and the free accounts.
My god I spent $200 on my oven 30 years ago and now it's all rusty and guess what? There are rusty stoves in the junkyard FOR FREE
I want my $200 back

Free accounts can't trade, can't have as much backpack space and can only have normal objects. Everything is pretty much the same

How come you faggots are happy when all other games go free, but when it's a Valve game you bought you freak out? Grow the fuck up, that's how the system works.
Hahaha, I wasn't expecting to see this much butthurt on these forums.
I'm happy since I only play on quality community servers and now most of my RL friends will start playing too.
Oh facepunch community, how you entertain me sometimes.
Im cool with this, as long as the F2P-people get fucked in the ass by restrictions.
Can I have the value of the hat in real money?
Glad they took measures to stave off "chinese" hat sellers by limiting free player trading/crafting. If people are taking this that badly, I'd hate the reaction if they were to announce like "Left 4 Dead Free 2 Play" in a few months.
Preorders of the orange box should get something special
Make hats cost money? EVERYONE MAD
Make entire new set of weapons? EVERYONE MAD
Make game entirely free? EVERYONE MAD
Buncha whiners you all are.
I payed 250€ for a Radeon HD5870 1 year ago, I should get a refund because they are cheaper now.
Complaints from the TF2 community? Not surprised.

Honestly, at literally every turn on this game you guys complain. You guys are incredibly childish, immature, and you just cry and cry and cry about features added to the game that only add to it. I personally am not much of a fan of TF2 anymore, I'm glad I'm not seeing how it turns people into immature little fucks. Or perhaps, that's just what Facepunch is full of, immature little fucks who have immature ideals and hate new things or differing opinions, and they just focus it on the most popular game of Half Life 2's developer.

Pissing in a sea of piss.
And you're exactly right.

Most Facepunchers barely have any idea how game development and business involving it works.
Well Valve certainly knows how to keep a game going.
Now to introduce some of my friends to TF2...
The WWI hat is nice, I wish we got something else though. Like maybe a giant sign with swirling lights, kaddos and sparklers singing and sparkling, and in neon a paragraph outlining my name and saying I payed for this hat. And I would be accompanied by naked women dancing to the tune of the song of my choice.
Then I'd be satisfied.
This is the exact equivalent to trying to fix something up, fucking it up, realizing it's worthless and giving it away.

A literal box hat
-snip- fuckautomerge

No, they are expanding after realizing they aren't making enough money on sales of the game alone. Making it F2P will boost sales with micro transactions.
The only reason I dislike this is the new players, have you ever been on F2P games like combat arms, alliance of valliant arms, etc? The player base is made of annoying little shits who found a free game.

Arma doesn't have hats :v:
