DoF: Making 16k gaming look more like 600p since CoD: Advanced Warfare
there are a few games out there that do DOF right

I never really noticed the DoF in these games.
I guess if you don't really notice it that means they're doing it right
It's one of those things games put in so they can be a bit more like movies I think. Where they artificiallly put in what are actually camera flaws that shouldn't be there so it looks ~more like a movie~.
It looks fucking awful. The only time I've ever seen it used to 'enhance' a game is Cuphead, because Cuphead is supposed to look like a really old cartoon, and even then it hurts my fucking eyes and I'd rather just have it off.
Even worse when you have strong prescription lenses in your glasses
It's not like i need fake chromatic abberation ontop of this shit
Dof I usually disable, as most of the time it gets in the way.
Motion Blur is mixed for me. If it's a good to great implementation of motion blur, Like Doom 2016's, then I keep it on. Because that motion Blur is legit.
This.
In gta online the DoF can be a big disadvantage when aiming through sights
The motion blur in doom 2016 is amazing, it makes the game look soo smooth, and they only used a minimal amount
Motion blur is so pointless on a 144hz monitor.
film grain always
lens flare in most cases
bloom in some games, when it's way over the top, like in ARK

Motion blur makes 144hz pointless tbh
the whole reason for motion blur is to make 30fps feel 'smooth'
but at 144hz everything so so smooth that adding blur makes it look like the worst thing ever
with 144hz any blur is just a huge tragedy
DOF and motion blur
fuck these settings
I came here to post this.

Motion blur that adjusts to the framerate would hardly be noticeable at 144Hz and make shit look even smoother.
Anyhow, motion blur in real-time isn't really a thing we've properly figured out yet - the best kind (frameblend blur or similar) can't really be done in real time.
I think it's an experimental feature in Garrys' Mod, but I'm not sure you can make the game run at the necessary framerate for it to look any good.
All that said, motion blur shouldn't be applied to the camera in first person shooters (because that conflicts with your natural eye tracking), only objects.
per-pixel/per-object motion blur is the coolest shit.

Fuck camera-based motion blur
I feel like the only one who likes FXAA, because MSAA doesn't affect transparent textures like chain link fences and if you want AA on those, you'll have to resort to downsampling if the game doesn't support FXAA

Per object motion blur is expensive as fuck though
The input lag from Vsync sometimes gets manageable if you force triple-buffering in the driver settings.
It's a good thing more games are supporting triple buffering out of the box now. It's a huge improvement over the older VSync implementations. Having a steadier frame pacing is always nice.
I usually notch down AO or disable it completely, few games have actually implemented SSAO in a decent way, so it's pretty much HBAO or bust.
