• EA faces row over Dungeon Keeper

To me I see it like if Nintendo made the next Zelda game a microtransaction fueled phone game. People are gonna be furious because its a franchise they know, love and want to play for hours on end neutered by a "you can only do X amount for free per day" system. In other words I feel EA were moreso banking that people would blindly buy into this because "Hey, its that Dungeon Keeper thing the kids love".
"We specifically built Dungeon Keeper around typical mobile play patterns - that is, checking in a few minutes here and there throughout the day,"
That's like looking into the fridge every few minutes because you're bored out of your mind. There's quite a difference between a few minutes and 4 hours! If it takes an entire workday to dig out two shitty little spaces, you have completely and utterly failed in motivating your victims to continue playing, Progress Quest is a better "game" because at least things happen within a reasonable timespan!
I could probably complete most of one of the first two in the time it takes to dig out one block in this game. This is fucking atrocious.
company next to them strips workers of their rights and makes products so cheaply using barely legal methods (and unethical methods at that) while killing small business, but hey muh viddee games! ofc someone is prolly gonna make parallels of walmart or bank of america to ea and they are fucking dumb
I completely understand that games aren't really important, but they're still doing really shitty practices that no company should do.
EA could have just charged a fee for the game and made everything inside fun and balanced. Then people who buy the game and be satisfied and EA would have a better reputation.

If they had only given it a different name and not had the reaper in it, everything would have been fine. It's just a poor multiplayer Tower Defense knockoff all in all. A bit of the ideas from the castle defense kind of games where you build buildings and defenses and invade others, and a bit from tower defense games just with traps instead.
It should have NEVER had the Dungeon Keeper IP. Its a Insult to the Original.
No, not at all. There are many great F2P games, it's just that the overwhelming majority of them is shit.
Or have micro-transactions. Which is shit.
They really do, I'd rather pay money for a game and have fun with it, instead of play it for free and get murdered with microtransactions. But hey, developers know it's more profitable in the long run, I know a few people who've spent $500+ on F2P games, one who even spent $1000+.
If a cash shop does not contain items that are needed to be the best you can or even progress through the game, then I am fine with it F2P literally removes the barrier of entry, and whilst this might bring some issues with it (cheaters), it also brings lots of good points (being able to test a game for free and feel no buyer's remorse for starters) Altough correlation =/= causation, most F2P games get often updated, leading to extremely huge play-times. At that point, whatever you've paid has been paid back for in pure entertainment value
F2P games need to go away.
this isn't a F2P thing, it's a paywall thing
"if you dont like our games youre a homophobe whos just entitled and wants everything on a silver platter" thats EA's excuse if you dont like their games
That easily could be a joke, but it's not. They seriously said that. They weren't even subtle about it. I cannot believe anyone defended that.
F2P games need to go away.
In general they are bad but not all of them are that bad.
EA needs to go away
