I would love to see a game that pitted two different countries against each other, other than the US vs Russia/China/Brown people
Something like the Euro force expansion for BF2, except maybe China v Russia or something.
I've never played Spec Ops in MW2 nor Prototype + Resident Evil ORC so i wouldn't know that.
However, if killing US soldiers as taliban or as Russian soldiers were part of the main storyline of a triple A game it would garner lots of attention.
No, spec ops and MW2 were different things, he's not talking about the coop for MW2.
so tropes = bad? are you aware that anything can be broken down and analyzed for tropes? why does this make it terrible?
what's wrong with cutting a leg off with a knife? the building had crushed the bones in dunn's leg entirely, as he said it was just meat and uniform.
Tropes are not bad, pretty much any story consists of them to some degree.
It's just this particular one. It's very cheap way of making player care about the character without any actual character development - Look, it's your buddy, you just went through battle with him, and now he's in a bad state, now please, be emotionally invested.
I may be wrong here, because I don't know what precedes these events, how much time we spend with that character, but the fact that it was shown in a gameplay trailer might be telling.
About that leg. You can cut the guy's leg off with a combat knife if he's bones have been shattered, but he'll then die of infection (also, traumatic shock and fat embolism). It's the same thing as in latest Tomb Raider where [sp]Lara walks off being impaled on a piece of wood or rubble all the way through[/sp]. There's so much you can do without breaking an immersion. If it doesn't break it for you, I'm glad, don't get me wrong here. But for me it does. And for a lot of other people.
Blackburn
