Valve aims to combat Steam review bombing with new 'histogram' charts

They care about DOTA 2 getting reviewbombed now because the game's playerbase has been shrinking recently. If there's anything I learned from my time playing MTG, is that the company will go no shits about people's complaints until they're actually under due stress, and Valve is currently under that IMO.
Hat money is srs business.

Dota 2 is not being review bombed because the player base is shrinking. It's getting review bombed because people are disappointed with Artifact and the HL2 Episode 3 synopsis. This is their only way to let off some anger.

there are objectively no bad things that come with this other than being able to sort shit insanely easily, come on, get your heads out of your asses
They made it easier for customers to tie dates and reviews together
Can't have people review bombing their own games.
Just gonna add this to the list of shit I hate that Valve's done in the past decade.

Valve looked at a few possible solutions to the problem, including the elimination of review scores altogether, although that was pretty much a non-starter since they were added in response to user demand in the first place. Thought was also given to locking down reviews temporarily when "abnormal behavior," which is to say a review-bombing campaign, was detected. But that was rejected as well, because Valve doesn't want to "stop the community having a discussion about the issue they're unhappy about, even though there are probably better places to have that conversation than in Steam User Reviews."
Ultimately, the decision was to do nothing, at least with regard to the review scores themselves. Instead, Valve is now providing consumers with more information about the reviews by way of a histogram that compares the ratio of a game's positive to negative reviews over its lifetime.

"As a potential purchaser, it's easy to spot temporary distortions in the reviews, to investigate why that distortion occurred, and decide for yourself whether it's something you care about. This approach has the advantage of never preventing anyone from submitting a review, but does require slightly more effort on the part of potential purchasers," Kroll wrote.
Lmao they literally say "Naw, we don't want to stop it"
if they truly 'showed their true colors' and 'cared' they would have had review black-outs

yeah definitely looks like a shrinking playerbase, i agree. The game has 11 times the playerbase of the next most played game on Steam. You have to be really biased to spout such asinine things
This thread proves that some gamers are incredibly petty whiners, Valve expands on a feature to give consumers more information about products they're considering purchasing, and they're somehow selfish for it?
