League of Legends becomes most-played PC game of all time

I like the gameplay of moba games, i like how unique it is, each player has different amazing abilities, and love how teamwork is key to playing well. However despite how I love the genre of the MOBA games that I play, the only thing that I don't really like at all that cause me to rage so much is the damn community of the game. The community is as awful as call of duty community, where people trashtalk left and right, if you screw up or don't get a good score, people will troll you.
That's not the only problem that i've had with moba games, the 2nd problem that I've had with moba games is foriegn people and how they do not speak the same language as everyone else is. it's difficult to discuss ganks and defenses if people don't speak english in an english only server. I get this problem in most of my matches in DOTA 2, when people speak russian or other languages. It's one the reason why i want region-locking to be promoted and used in MOBA games so that everyone play with the same language group, so that it's easier to communicate and execute plans when people know what we are talking about.
How... Why... The only MOBA I have played is Dota 2.

You should stick with it....or try out HoN.
LoL is awful.
This is actually a very good thing, considering the amount of money made off this game by pro players (CLG, M5, Dignitas, etc.)
Personally, I think LoL is heading in the right direction with the new game modes, and the heavy attention paid to balancing the new champions. I really liked the dominion update, and although it's fallen out of style somewhat, I hope ARAM is coming to queues in the future, instead of just custom game silliness.
EDIT: By the money comment, I mean it's good they're not shelling out ridiculous amounts of money for people playing an unheard-of game.
LoL is pretty much the epitome of a shit game. there is just nothing good about it. once Dota2 goes live, people will flock to it and never look back.
LoL can be quite the enjoyable experience if you play with the right people.
Solo queue is a rage fest thought.
That title is misleading as fuck.
I'm surprised xFire is still going too.
Watching live commentaries of it is boring as shit though compared to Starcraft 2
I don't really understand the love for MOBA games. I've always found them boring and tedious.
30 agrees and not a single disagree? Never knew so many people don't like MOBA. It's my favorite genre
Really shack news, citing a forbes contributor post?
Why not just cite a tumblr post while you are at it.
Those stats prove one thing
Since only ignorant people use xfire now and Lol has the biggest amount of players on xfire, LoL is filled with ignorant people
if you played the game, you'd know this already
Did they really exclude an entire continent from their figures
Really
So about 1 in 6 people on earth play LoL? Seems legit.
Seems legit for me.
I swear fucking everyone plays it. I arranged some drinking and gaming with a few buds at my place, so we went down to the store to fetch the goods for us to survive the night. Then the fucking cashier said: "Lan, huh?"
Cashier: "What game?"
Me: "League of legends i guess"
Cashier: "What hero?"
And probably everyone else i meet play LoL
People still use xfire?
Holy shit.
"Friend of friends" hasn't worked in... years. Or maybe everybody really DID leave.
I use it for 2-3 people, although mostly because it automatically logs and automatically overlays on most games without having to manually add it (cough steam cough). Only problem is that if I open the xfire overlay... then get confused and open the steam overlay they break each other. It happens surprisingly often.
Wow, they didn't even add Counter Strike to the list.
LoL is a lot of fun but my god, the community is probably the worst I have ever seen.

all mobas have horrible communities. Probabyl because you have to rely on 4 other people per game to advance up the ranks.
It's hard to explain. I just gave up trying to get awesome and play with troll item builds.

in the end its just a game and the end goal is to have fun.
I don't understand you people who compare DotA 2 and LoL ("once dota 2 comes out nobody is going to play LoL" etc) they're two completely different games. one is more serious and competitive and the other is more casual and easier to pick up. okay they're both MOBAs but their respective takes on the genre are so different you can't directly compare them
Why did it get pulled?
Why did it get pulled?
I think they originally based the claim on XFire statistics, which we all know are going to be horrendously skewed.
People still use xfire?
Holy shit.
Steam still runs like shit and doesn't record my games, encode, and auto upload ?
Holy shit.
xfire ran like total shit lol
You should stick with it....or try out HoN.

The only reason to play HoN is if you want DoTA on a better engine, except DoTA 2 is out
xfire ran like total shit lol
way more responsive than steam when it comes to messaging and overall overhead, xfire overlay will pop up in less than a second in situations where it would have taken steam more.
Ahahah, Shacknews fucked up so hard they had to remove the article.
Real bunch of idiots.
No shit it's one of the top played, it's one of the earliest MOBA games that wasn't DOTA and it's F2P, but to exclude Asia is just silly statistics-wise
