It's still a crappy port. It's just optimized extremely well. The Mouse camera controls are really shit, IMO, right now. Seeing as there isn't much gunplay in the game, though, I don't mind using a controller, and it works really well
Controls don't mean a game is bad unless you can't do anything about them. There's plenty you can do to make the controls perfectly fine.
Are you guys seriously bitching about the controls?
They're easy to use and I've had no issues with them, despite the occasional camera screw up, which is pretty common in most third person shooters anyways.
Well. That's not really Square. It's mainly just a rebranded Eidos and they operate pretty much as they did, except with the head suits being guys in Japan.
Square handles all the advertising. If it weren't for them DXHR and Sleeping Dogs wouldn't have got all those hefty trailers that gained so much attention.

thank god for you :')
now that you've told me your system specs that's one less thing off my mind before i die
The camera controls are really annoying. It keeps trying to put the camera behind him, made the chase scenes a right pain.
Still a good game though, ran better than I thought on my PC. I might eventually pick this up.
For once, I think this game may just be a little too bloody. I mean, I hit a guy in the face like three times and he looked like I'd tossed him into a meat grinder.
But yeah, I've been looking forward to a new True Crime game (this is basically True Crime 3, it started development as True Crime: Hong Kong before Activision pulled out), because Streets of L.A. was the shit.

It didn't start development as True Crime , it was started as something completely different and unrelated, Activision only slapped the name on at one point for some reason. Hell, it was supposed to have a female protagonist at one point.

And no True Crime devs had anything to do with this.

dick waving with an ok rig
smooth.
The game looks like it runs on the Just Cause 2 engine so it's about as optimized as you can get. The game has a bit more detail than JC2 though so you should still expect a lower frame rate than JC2 if you managed to run it on a toaster at 30 fps like I did.
It doesn't run on the JC2 engine.
um jc2 ran like dickbutts on my pc but sleeping dogs ran superfine
also, its not the jc engine, at least, not the same physics and particle engine
It's not the same engine at all, it uses the 'HKShip' engine according to wikipedia.
demo doesn't work for me, it crashes as soon as I open it
That told us nothing, but thanks, I was dying to know about your rig.
Sorry, I wasn't sure if I should've posted it but yeah. I apologize. The game is very well optimised and even low end systems (that can run dx10) shouldnt have too much problem running the game. Again, I apologise for my previous post.
This game is the best I've played in a while, both in gameplay and performance.
Sleeping dogs runs so fucking good on PC, I seriously hope more companys start taking PC ports more seriously, having this run at a solid 60 fps on high settings on an open world GTA like game is really refreshing.
I cant wait for more games by them, looks like Theif 4 will.
I find an odd trend with square enix... I can't stand final fantasy which is basically their flagship franchise, but I like most of the other games they produce.

I think the people who made Deus Ex, JC2, and Sleeping dogs are very different from the people who make final fantasy and that shit.
-snip-
Finally got it to download, t- 25 minutes to crazy ass asian man undercover cop fightan stance

I know, that's part of the point I'm trying to make - they produced and developed final fantasy - but those other games they just produced. Although some games that they developed I have liked too.

For real, I played the demo a couple days back abd eveb the fighting alone and the city feeling alive were enough to convince me to buy it legit coupled with the excellent port. I want to support this good porting. Camera was annoying until i decided fighting was cooler with gamepad
I don't understand how people are saying this is a good PC port. You have to navigate the menus by keyboard, you need both hands on the keyboard if you want to use the phone while walking or driving, getting in a vehicle is right click and you can't change it to E or F because they're both used for combat, and the keys are bundled together, made up example Space = Jump/Sprint/Punch and you can't bind them separately
[editline]23rd August 2012[/editline]
Oh and it has really bad mouse support where the camera follows the direction, but not necessarily the speed of your mouse movement. I just don't understand where there is anything that could be considered good?
You can change it to E and F and E actually works pretty well as counter.
Downloading just to see how poorly it runs on my PC.
Downloading just to see how poorly it runs on my PC.
It runs pretty well on my machine at almost max setting. I just turned down the shadows and anti aliasing a little bit.
Saw it at my mate's for a bit and I lie the graphics and how badass the fighting looks. Only gripe was that the driving feels quite static because of the camera.
The controls for a none XBox360 controller is swapped. I'm having to press R2 to pause on my controller.=/ Why can't you change the controller? Never in these games can you change the controller. Only the freaking keyboard. Also, the demo sucked, they could have at let you freeroam or at least let you drive to the warehouse, like Just Cause 2 Demo. Oh well, I'll get it when it becomes cheap.
If you leave the game idle for a few minutes (I was getting a drink or something) the game will come up with 'please reconnect the controller' :v:.

Wait, on PC or Xbox? If it's Xbox, it's because it always does that when your idle/away. I think so.
