So you'll happily pay more money than you should for jack shit in return? Great, thanks for letting the publisher know they can rob their customers in broad daylight.
rob?
Some of you people are truly pathetic, it's 5 more and you complain like its the end of the world. Why the heck should I stop buying games from Steam because it's 5€ more? Normally games are 49.99, now it's 54.99. How in the world does that makes a difference? 5€ are money you can find on the fucking streets.
I don't really know about differences in price, but in my case, £15 is quite the extra amount.
and you idiots whine about $60
It's foreign currencies that they're worried about. Shit like the game being 45 euros when it should be 30 and so on.
For some reason it's okay in the gaming market to charge stupidly high prices for games, and I dont know why people allow it.
For the 2 people who didn't get my post, the point of it was. Today games are many games are $50 bucks. They charge that much because people is actually buying. The price will just increase because people are spending that money. Who knows, maybe in the near future games will be $80, which will completly fuck over those who don't got alot of money, such as me, a poor peasant student who can barely affoard his rent.
Games are too expensive though, if I want to buy 4 AAA games, you know nothing big just 4 games right. I'm shelling out more than 200 dollars. And thats not even including all the micro transaction and DLC horse shit.
It so is. You just have to wait four months till it's on sale.
Why would I care about 5€?
you#re getting overcharged for something that is literally byte for byte exactly the smae as something cheaper, why would you not just buy the cheaper one? buying expensive games encourages the practice and adds up over time [editline]12th May 2013[/editline]
I think 55€ for a game is absolutely fine. Even if everyone would start charging 5 I wouldn't stop buying from Steam. Sure, I could have saved so much money searching through internet for cheaper prices, but I like getting it from Steam for numerous reasons.
but it's a steamworks game it activates on your steam account it literally is exactly the same buying it retail as on steam [editline]12th May 2013[/editline]
I'm sorry, $59.99 is too expensive?
surprisingly converted directly to gbp that's pretty similar to our RRP for games speaking as a consumer why would you pay more though when you can get it cheaper for no extra effort? for people who don't earn much or live off benefits because they can't find a job it could be the difference between buying food and buying food and a game
i have no problem with the rest of your post, but pc gaming is not a hobby that poor people can really do and if you're poor and are complaining about pricey new videogames, theres probably a good reason why you're poor
PC gaming is a hobby that poor people can do; it's not that difficult to save up £500 for a decent PC that can play most things decently. The stupid thing that I'm annoyed at however is this: The fact that enough people have paid £44.99 for the game to show up in this list is appalling and stupid. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Total-War-Rome-II-DVD/dp/B008H1QPEE Oh look, the game is £29.99 here, it's Steamworks too, so anyone who doesn't buy it from Amazon or any other seller is needlessly throwing their money away when they don't have to. Do not say "it's only £15 extra". Do the math, it adds up over time. If you bought one game every month, for £15 extra, you'd be paying an additional £180 a year which doesn't need to be spent. Now, if a lot of sales are made through Steam, Sega is going to think "oh, we make more money here, let's do it again for our next games". Then you'll have other publishers wanting to have a slice of that cake and the general price of video games will increase simply because of greed and the stupidity of customers. Back to the "That fucks over the poor people who can't afford £45 for every freaking game they buy." comment. Whilst you and I might have the money to buy games at £45, Joe Bloggs might not earn as much money and may have a smaller budget for video games. Since Joe Bloggs is poorer than others, he'll have to miss out on buying games at release, and instead wait for them to go on sale. This isn't fair on those consumers who don't have a high budget for video games. What if they decide to wait it out for a story based game to go on sale? The longer they wait for it to go cheaper, the more likely it is that the game will be spoilt for them.
i have no problem with the rest of your post, but pc gaming is not a hobby that poor people can really do and if you're poor and are complaining about pricey new videogames, theres probably a good reason why you're poor
you can build a decent pc that will play most games on medium for like $300 and the games are much cheaper than console titles. that said the initial investment is bigger which presents a larger barrier, but it's counteracted by a PC being useful for tons of other shit as well [editline]12th May 2013[/editline] Thing is, I have no problem with them after years and years of pricing games at £35 RRP jacking it up to £40 RRP, that's alright and I can live with it knowing that dev costs for games are soaring and shit. It's when the price of a game is like £10 above even that for no reason because the publishers know they can sell it for that much and get away with it that's annoying, a la simcity, the sims or CoD. I will also not buy it on steam if steam makes no effort to gain my purchase over other, cheaper outlets, like a minor discount or a steam bonus for preordering or some shit. I will also not buy it if the steam price is like £15 higher than the price everywhere else, it just shows they're not fucking trying
Holy shit, bought :D.
I bet you get bored of it after 5 minutes as usual
It's foreign currencies that they're worried about. But $60? I'm not going to shovel that much out.

Don't buy this game on steam, this just encourages them to charge stupidly high prices for it.
games have gotten cheaper, not more expensive and these little entitled children living off of their parents' money are crying about it if you think a one time $60 fee for hundreds of hours of entertainment is too much you're fucked in the head

Is that just UK steam or steam globally? People outside of the US seem to be bitching more (and you guys do have a bit more of a reason... though you (UK) usually pay less than us for games) And also to be fair, Rome II seems to have a lot more content / production values than the previous games. I'm fine with spending $10 more on this title... but I'm still going to wait awhile.
I repeat, GreenManGaming, $45 which is about 34€. I'm starting to sound like an adbot for GMG but so far they are the cheapest. I'll probably pick it up soon.
To me GreenManGaming shows 54,99€ at Rome 2 [editline]12th May 2013[/editline] Oh there is voucher now it is 41.25€
why do you pre-order games?
Because it fits my lifestyle.
That and you seem to have a astonishingly large amount of disposable income. They say money doesn't grow on trees but fuck it sure seems like you've mastered it.
I'm lucky to be working with 2 things that I love.
That and you seem to have a astonishingly large amount of disposable income. They say money doesn't grow on trees but fuck it sure seems like you've mastered it.
so if someone can afford 55€ that means he's loaded awesome I must be king
you#re getting overcharged for something that is literally byte for byte exactly the smae as something cheaper, why would you not just buy the cheaper one? buying expensive games encourages the practice and adds up over time [editline]12th May 2013[/editline] but it's a steamworks game it activates on your steam account it literally is exactly the same buying it retail as on steam [editline]12th May 2013[/editline] surprisingly converted directly to gbp that's pretty similar to our RRP for games speaking as a consumer why would you pay more though when you can get it cheaper for no extra effort? for people who don't earn much or live off benefits because they can't find a job it could be the difference between buying food and buying food and a game
I want it from Steam so I bought it there, it's important for me to have every purchase from Steam if I can.
Gotta wait later that purchasing until I see campaign map and city building. If it is like in Medieval 2 and Rome I am so buying it.
I want it from Steam so I bought it there, it's important for me to have every purchase from Steam if I can.
why? that's retarded [editline]12th May 2013[/editline]
Is that just UK steam or steam globally? you're spending all that money for 30 gigs worth of content. obviously the devs have worked their asses off making this game top notch. be thankful it's not higher. [editline]12th May 2013[/editline]
fuck off, what if you're unemployed or have an awful dead end job that is the only thing you can find in this climate? poor people fucking exist [editline]12th May 2013[/editline] it's not just children who live off their parents who don't like spending more money than they have to
I can buy this game after a day of working. people are just lazy

Can people just buy their fucking games where ever they want instead of bickering? :v:
if i was dirt poor, then why would i buy games when i could just pirate them or become an alcoholic
I know, but the point is that people not wanting to spend more money than they could on something isn't always because they're lazy or a child living off their parents or something and as for me, even if I was rich I wouldn't buy this off steam, because it's paying more than I could for the same product elsewhere
