I dislike the game because it took all good about DMC series and beat them into submission. As a game it looks okay, as a game from DMC series it's terrible. Neither combat nor characters stick so all the relevance is the title.

And challenging? Did we play the same demo? This was easy as SHIT, even on Son of Sparda mode. The gameplay is mash easy and messy, since they removed lock on for no fucking good reason. Hell, I finished the "fuck you" slurm queen boss fight with a SSS ranking using only counters and 1 attack over and over again.

For me it was a challenge, and I still have no idea how to pull of a counter.

I would hardly call those 2 personalities at all comparable. They're both cocky, that's where the similarities stop.
Dante in the old games was cocky because he knew he was awesome. The new one is cocky because he's a little shit... despite being older than the original Dante.

the mechanics in this are so incredibly dumbed down that you can just mash shit in any direction, since the game dictates what enemy you target because no lock on
it's just shoddy, half baked, and it doesn't help that the story and writing is more fitting for a moody show on the CW

I've played all four Devil May Cry games and I liked the demo and will buy this on launch.
