I quite enjoyed it even got Tali to [sp] jump off a fucking cliff[/sp]. I fucking hate Quarians.
I can't hit agree more. They use a group of sentient beings for slave labor and freak the fuck out because they asked if they had a soul. They then try to do a mass genocide against the peaceful geth, and try to justify it by saying "But theyre robots who cares what they think?" the geth only rebel because at that point they have no choice. The quarians get a taste of their own medicine and run away crying to space. For the next couple hundred years they proceed to become butthurt and plan shitty tactics to destroy the geth. Meanwhile the geth remain on the quarian home world preserving it and holding no grudges. While the geth are peacefully exploring their newfound freedom the butthurt quarians are going around ruining their reputation. Then the quarians think they're somehow victims.

The geth have a bad reputation for attempted genocide (self defense or not), and the quarians have a bad reputation because they created the geth in the first place and then tried to wipe them out. I can sympathize with both factions. The geth just want the right to exist and, when we actually meet a "true" geth in Mass Effect 2, we can easily understand that the geth are not what we think they are in Mass Effect 1. Despite this, I can sympathize with the quarians for freaking the fuck out when they realized they created an actual functioning AI that started to ask questions they never expected it to. While outright destruction was an overreaction, I'm not entirely positive that humanity would react differently were we put in the same situation. Remember, the geth weren't sentient beings when they were used for labor, but rather highly sophisticated virtual intelligences that could perform reasonably complex tasks (in groups anyway). It's a far cry from that to a sentient being or even just an AI though.
Yeah I know I'm just biased as fuck to geth because Legion was a chill ass bro til the end and the quarians were really whiny and passive aggressive. Not to mention the quarians were pratically setting themselves up for extinction. "Hey lets use our small mostly civilian fleet to try and directly take on the geth who haven't been aggressive to us in like forever."

They have a totally different culture than any of us are accustomed to though. No privacy save for their suits, no real home to speak of save for a fleet of ships that are falling apart...that could drive any society to desperation, depression, and even recklessness. I think Tali, Kal'Reegar, Admiral Raan, and Admiral Gerrel were the most endearing of the quarian species (though the latter went full retard in ME3).
Yeah, I thought Gerrel was a cool dude and Koris was just a whiny Admiral in ME2. It shocked me to find my opinion reversed in ME3.
