"lol what shit devs putting out piece of trash game they never cared about" [editline]30th May 2014[/editline] you do realize how hypocritical that is right everyone throws their shirts down and the forum people start beating their chests when a pc game dares not to be released the same time as consoles
situation 1: everyone on the forums complains until it gets released, and then the complaining stops situation 2: everyone on the forums complains till the rest of time because they released a shit game man they really dodged a bullet by taking situation 2!!!!!
situation 1: everyone on the forums complains until it gets released, and then the complaining stops situation 2: everyone on the forums complains till the rest of time because they released a shit game man they really dodged a bullet by taking situation 2!!!!!
It's really not a shit game though, and everyone who's saying that are complete morons. It's not as good as what was shown at E3, but it's not a bad game by any means. It's pretty fucking good.
lmao buyers remorse.
Some of his points are valid, though I would argue some. He calls the reputation useless but then complains when the civilians call the police because of his presence... that's because of his poor reputation, not useless.
Tbh, pre-ordering a digital game does offer you the convenience of a pre-load so you can play it when its released. A small advantage, though.
You still have to decrypt the files with Steam when the game is released, which could be a slow process if you have a hard drive with an RPM of less than 7200. [editline]1st June 2014[/editline] I preordered and preloaded Portal 2, and when it was released, it took me a half hour for those files to decrypt on my old computer.
So, what the fuck happened with the "PC is our lead platform" statement?
To get things straight: People are complaining watch dogs not being like in E3 gameplay trailer or that it doesn't have stuff GTA has. I agree about E3 footage, but many games were scripted during E3 to make it look nice. GTA has a totally different engine, way better than Watch Dogs. So it CAN'T have all the stuff GTA has. I am very impressed with that hacking stuff. When you check random people on the street, I haven't seen a single person that has the same work or cash balance, they are all unique. I didn't play Watch Dogs a lot, but so far it's a very enjoyable experience, except some minor lag problems I have. (Due to my PC) tl:dr: Watch Dogs is a fun game, but don't expect it to be GTA. It has some graphical difficulties, but what matters the most is how fun it is.
GTA4 is also quite a few years old, which is the GTA everyone is comparing it to
This should serve as yet ANOTHER fucking reminder on why you shouldn't pre-order games. But who am I kidding people will do it in droves anyway.
This is why I am glad it came with my video card.
The engine (Disrupt) was made by Ubisoft specifically for Watch Dogs, "The engine doesn't support it" isn't an excuse when you made it Especially since some of the missing things are really basic stuff, like bullet impacts
He didn't say the engine doesn't support it, what? He said Rockstars engine is far superior. I'd also like to add that it was worked on for way longer. [editline]1st June 2014[/editline]
http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/02/27/watch-dogs-is-targeting-pc-as-lead-platform/ My fucking ASS, Ubisoft.... You can't claim you're targeting PC as lead platform and then after release say: Oh but there is no Unified Memory on PC!?
They're not saying "Oh crap never expected this!" they're just saying it's more work. It's like you people are deliberately misinterpreting sentences so you don't seem like you're being over-dramatic. [editline]1st June 2014[/editline]
GTA4 is also quite a few years old, which is the GTA everyone is comparing it to
One of GTA's selling points is attention to detail and, at least for GTA 4, realism. Yeah let's all flip out on Borderlands 2 because it doesn't have the destruction mechanics of Red Faction: Guerilla.
That's called "lying" or "marketing" as it's known as in the gaming industry.
http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/02/27/watch-dogs-is-targeting-pc-as-lead-platform/ http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/27/watch-dogs-pc-is-lead-platform/
"We expect fewer problems with porting games to the PS4 than the PS3, which had a completely different infrastructure," Guillemot said. "Previously, we developed games first on the Xbox 360 and then translated them onto the PS3. It took a lot of time and money to port."
Ubisoft actually never mentioned pc as a lead platform.... that was just a creation of the media surrounding it. The game was actually built on a PC because of the modern systems similar architecture, and the economic ease of it. Ubisoft just said the game was primarily done on the PC, they never said that was a lead platform, that was just media hyperbole putting words in the mouth of the person who said it. One thing though is that even though they didnt really say it was the main platform, it becomes pointless because they ported it to last gen's highly incompatible architecture, I'll admit. But yeah let's refrain from spewing that bullshit.
It could also indicate that your textures are horribly unoptimized. Just sayin~
Scripting and programming is a billion times easier to fuck up than textures literally the only side effect of bad textures is bad textures unless you're FakeFactory and make every shotgun shell 4000x4000 for no reason you cannot fuck it up
If "supporting PC is an incredibly complex task" then why not set the release date at a place where you know this support will be readily available? I'd rather have to wait 5 months more than console for a fixed game than get the same release date or close and get a shitty half-assed game
Because then people bitch and moan like they did / are over GTA 4/5. No dev can win no matter what they do, they either release it across all platforms at the same time and patch any issues on PC that come up asap (its impossible to account for every single combo of hardware) or delay it and get anger from the community and then still have the same sort of issues anyway. [editline]1st June 2014[/editline]
I suppose supporting PC is really hard while supporting the consoles that are based on PC hardware is a piece of cake sure nice
There are 5 consoles that Watch Dogs supports, therefore there are 5 sets of hardware that they can develop for and have sitting in their offices and test with. On top of that there are probably 5 separate teams of people at the companies that make those consoles that specialise in making sure games don't run shit and are able to assist developers in making that happen (not to mention the technical certification teams that prevent poorly performing games from being released). Whereas on PC you have unlimited combos of hardware that you have to support, a wide range of OS's and possibly conflicting things being installed on a PC. Getting any software to work on a wide range of computers isn't super easy, I can only imagine its extremely complex when you are working on a AAA game. Honestly I think game devs should be cut some slack for some of the issues their games have on release.
did they not say that PC was the lead platform..?
It's all horseshit.
One of GTA's selling points is attention to detail and, at least for GTA 4, realism. Yeah let's all flip out on Borderlands 2 because it doesn't have the destruction mechanics of Red Faction: Guerilla.
Borderlands 2 and RFG are not targeted to the same niche, watch dogs and GTA4 on the other hand are, and watch dogs pitted itself against GTAV, when it cant even compare to GTA4
It's all horseshit.
Wasn't at the time.
lmao buyers remorse.
Buyer's remorse? You honestly think it's so bad that it's impossible for people to like it? Like, do you get off on making fun of this game?
