I'm conveying that this is how things just are, and they are NOT going to change because a bunch of whiny nerds want new AAA games that probably cost over a $1 Million for all the coding, VA, etc that needs to be done, to have it's pre order price cut in half.
If I can scrounge up the money from a job to pre order games I'm interested in, so can other people. If they can't they can just wait for the sales.
I'm perfectly content with all of this.
Yeah I agree but if you're perfectly content then why all the seeming anger in first sentence? Such hostility?

Because every time a thread like this pops up, everyone first reaction is to just shit.
Where's the excitement? The prospect of a new interesting experience? That feeling of getting something FUN?
Of course not everyone has that exact sentiment, but come on. Fun is what makes video games, video games.
Yeah but if you spend 60 bucks and get something unfun that is not fun.
The real issue is that the 90 dollar gold edition claims to have the "complete Far Cry 4 experience." Which is pretty ridiculous, it's like they didn't even try to hide the fact you're not getting the complete game when you buy it.
60€/80$ for buying a game you know nothing about and can't even play yet... you'd have to be an idiot to preorder that right now. I think I'm going to wait until I can get it for a more reasonable price (and reviews are finally out).

They said you're getting a fucking harpoon. Where did anything say "we're removing elephants" or some shit like that?
And would you consider a Harpoon "part of the complete game"?
Oh wow, holy shit. This is comedy gold. 80€/110$ for the complete game. The 80$ version is only part of the full game :v:

Broke my automerge :(
I don't see the issue with WD other than people being upset about the graphics, but uPlay is a piece of shit. Pirates have less trouble getting their games working than I did launching FC3 through uPlay.
Watch Dogs is a disaster for several reasons
A. Obviously, the most noticable thing is the fact that the game just looks like flat shit compared to the E3 footage. Some of that was restored via modding.
B. The INSANE amount of preorder bullshit going on with watch dogs, to a disgusting level. Remeber that big spreadsheet going over all the watch dog editions?
C. The game has serious lack of quality control, most noticably in anything related to driving. Terrible driving controls/physics (its much better if you are using a controller but still not good), the roads make no fucking sense (there are 4-way stop intersections for multi-lane roads everywhere in the middle of downtown), crosswalks will be mis-aligned to the street, and many other general "holy shit did anyone actually bother polishing this game" features.
The game just screams overproduced and overbudgeted. Too many people with no enough focus and built in a manner where it makes you want to like it through its premise instead of liking it as a game. "Please buy into this concept, consumer!" - ubisoft

I would never pay 60$ for a game, but 80?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Harpoon is part of the pre-order bonus/limited edition, not specifically the gold edition.
Never pre-order AAA titles.

in fact i'd argue the game looks better because the viewmodel hands and some of the foliage in these screens are so obviously photoshopped it looks uglier

This isn't a bullshot; a playable PAX East demo for the FC3 multiplayer looks very similar. Like everything else however, they changed it. What are you doing Ubi?

(Apologies for the guy's voice, I couldn't find a better video :v:)
I think the biggest issue is a lack of more Blood Dragon. Give us Rex 'Power' Colt!
I find it funny that people have only recently started complaining about Ubi's bullshots. They've been doing it for forever, just like every other major publisher.
Even Nintendo does it. Go look at those 1440p Skyward Sword shots compared to gameplay. Captain Toad's promo screens are also confirmed bullshots.
People are upset because that one gentleman found all the old E3 2012 shaders and such to make the game look pretty in the game files and put them back in. Then the game ran better than it did vanilla.
He did things other than put the shaders back in.
And also I've heard testimonies that it ran worse.
If we are on topic of Ubisoft games overall, I'll toss my feelings about them, they are really repetitive with loads of unimportant grindy side stuff and you simply become tired of it as the result.
in fact i'd argue the game looks better because the viewmodel hands and some of the foliage in these screens are so obviously photoshopped it looks uglier
To be honest depending on how you look at it, the screenshots they used to advertise the game are bullshit in one way or another.
Regardless of the price, regardless of the quality, I'll still buy the game and the DLC for completions sake, I can't say that I'm not disappointed with a lot of the promotional material that Ubi & Others do, if you're going to sell crud, you might as well put a shine on it.
I'll wait for the game to drop on sale with all DLC for like 10 bucks in a year or two.
I mean I like far cry and all but Ubisoft can suck my cock after all that watchdogs bullshit.
You're literally the reason they get away with this
Implying that a forum full of upset gaming enthusiasts will stop a multi-million dollar company from making terrible design choices and lying to customers?
I play games for entertainment, I'm sure Far Cry 4 will pass the 6-10 hours entertainment mark I'm looking for, replay-ability, extra content and easter eggs aside.
I'd spend $90.00 taking my partner out to the movies which lasts two hours tops and dinner on the side, add another hour.
If you don't like Ubisoft, don't buy their products, if you don't like what's happening to the games industry, don't play games.
You're literally the reason they get away with this
The issue here is that I don't care about promo material, it's never accurate.
When was the last time you bought something and it was exactly as you imagined it
90 Bucks? Are you flying your partner to paris and eating at the finest restaurant?
Oh and don't worry, I don't buy games if I disagree with the devs/developers views on the industry.
Oh yeah, and that mentality is why nothing gets done. "So what if my car is hurting the environment, just because I stop doesn't mean anyone else will"
Two Tickets to the cinema ~$34
Popcorn and drinks for two ~$20
Dinner at a nice restaurant ~$70
No, I'm going to a local cinema and restaurant .
Secondly, comparing pollution to video games is like comparing an apple to an orange, I don't believe it applies to this situation.
Just because it's a regular price does not mean it's not a lot.
Why do you suddenly drop into an extreme of one penny? I just don't see what you're trying to convey.
Adjusting for inflation, game prices are now lower than they were in the 90's.
Oh god man, I feel really sorry for you.
I actually went on the same type of date today, Tickets were 15, popcorn + drinks were 5, dinner was 25.
Ooooohhh I see that Australian flag now. Those prices make sense, then.
And I wasn't complaining about pollution (I can't with what I drive :v:) but the mentality.
"Why should I vote, one vote doesn't make the difference"
Straya Tax, don't forget it; it hurts more than pollution and game dev/pubs combined.
I get where you're coming because I held the same view for a long time but at the end of the day, I don't think much will change anytime soon and I just want to fill my library with games and have a reasonable time doing so.
the hours thing doesn't quite make much sense
i'd much rather spend 3 hours with real life friends than 8-10 in a videogame, for the same price
I derive pleasure from playing video games and I derive pleasure from spending time with my partner and friends.
A healthy balance of both, I can't constantly spend time with friends due to constraints such as work and life in general, I can however; more regularly find time to play videogames in my downtime.
The issue here is that I don't care about promo material, it's never accurate.

when i bought space engineers after seeing its promo videos.
Watch Dogs is a disaster for several reasons
You forgot the utter lack of anything resembling a personality and absence of remotely relateable characters.
I'm worried about The Division now...and its price...
