• Final Fantasy VII remake can't happen until Square Enix makes a better game

No matter how unlikely they will be making a final fantasy that surpasses all the older ones any time soon, they're certainly never going to make it if they resign themselves to remaking old ones. I appreciate that they are trying.
As much as I think final fantasy games have been kinda awful, I have to at least respect the developers for trying rather than companies that know they're putting out shit and don't care.
I think is pretty hard (or maybe next to imposible) to remake this game. Is pretty solid and doesn't need any update (maybe some visuals and some fix) Is pretty ok alone. Also if you want a good old RPG very similar to the final fantasy series try wild arms 1 and 2. They are very good but most people don't even know about them.
This just in: If I don't get a fully 3D Resident Evil: Remake by the time I'm 25, I'll probably chug a few bottles of Ibuprofen and fall asleep.

It just wasn't fully 3D. Besides, I'd rather have them remake RE2 or Outbreak.
I must be the only one on this forum that has never played FF
"If they were to release a 7 remake right now, the FF franchise would be done with,"
Actually they'd probably reinvigorate a dying series if anything else. Regardless of personal opinions, VII was, as the article hints at, the iconic FF game. And fans of FF have been dying for them to remake it. Hell I'm right there with them... so many hours into that game (along with several other FFs).
I've been saying this for years. Square Enix can literally not make games. Look at the things they've made for the past few years and most of the releases that are on time, are usually portable releases. They've been working on one title for about eight years now I think. The other final fantasy 13. Them acquiring Eidos was the best revenue strategy they ever made.
Maybe they should try doing something that isn't yet another generic JPRG like they've been releasing. Innovation would be really nice.

Although I admit innovation wouldn't be too bad either.
Idk Square, maybe if you finish XIII Versus and actually make it GOOD and not just emo-repetitive-jrpg-trash...

They would sell well for a year, but they would thrive off a horse on it's last legs. For the long term sake of the series, they need to keep searching for a new icon, they need to keep trying to win back the love of the series with a new title, they can't be the series only capable of living in the past. Now if only they weren't so bad at it, re-inventing gameplay in horrible directions and making plots more and more convoluted and less and less relatable or understandable...
Just give me a VII remake and Versus XII square and ill be happy
Another remake? for what? The DS again or the 3DS?
Remake =/= Port
