XBL is like 40 euro for a year, in the long term its not that much but i only have short bursts of interest when playing 360 games. Might get Gold again.
However a few things i would like to get when having Gold
- No advertisements, i am paying you money so remove it.
- Throw out Xbox Live Games, throw money to some developer and make the game free for Golds
- Don't lock out Silver users so much, why the fuck block Internet Explorer? Its a browser that doesn't even need your servers to launch and operate.
- Reduce it from 60$ to 30$, we are not in 2006 anymore.
I got no choice to get Gold because my favorite games are Xbox exclusive (Forza, Halo, Gears of War, Far Cry instincts Predator and Battleblock Theatre)
Oh boy i can't wait for the PS4 (or PS3 when i get the money, anyone got one for sale? :v:)
haha no xbl gold is not worth it why would you do that
I set my xbox up which I have about 30+ games for next to my computer pop in borderlands 2
lets just say I bought it on PC immediately after and the difference in control, quality, performance, and what I can do with the game VS xbox is unprecedented.
How anyone could possibly play xbox live any more I have no idea
You just compared a console game with it's PC counter-part. You didn't give any reason to why the live service isn't worth it at all.
Personally I buy into the gold because the majority of my friends play Xbox. Lately however I haven't even touched my Xbox. Not because I dislike the service, but because I've become entertained more with my PC lately with the only exception being my Mass Effect collection, I've been getting back into that.
Gold is most definitely not worth it to me, the only reason I kept it was because most of my friends play it.
If they all switched over to a PS4 [or PC] I'd leave my Xbox account to die immediately.
Thank you for purchasing xbox live gold
You may now proceed to previously locked areas that we have filled full of ads

because all other services offer it free, and theres no real use to making people pay for it except money.
Why should I pay for some "exclusive VIP service" when even then I'll be seeing ads out the ass. And I've used gold for years, but it was more about simply because we had an xbox back then.
And seeing how insanely outdated the console is now that gives me an even better reason to not pay for that.
I only got it for Halo, and now that it it seems to be dying, (older games, halo 3's MP, and the series seems to be getting more CoD with gameplay) its not worth it. Maybe if it was $30.
I don't know but these PSN+ advantages really sound they should be at XBL Gold since well, you already pay for just online playing but its the other way around.
When they announced PSN+ they did sorta pushed me over the edge to get a PS3 but around here its about 50-100 euro more then the Xbox and my Xbox died so i could not leave my 50 games in the dust...

So it's worth paying $60 a year just to play with your friends, whereas the PC has been doing that same thing for years, for free, and PSN too ever since it came out.
Live is not worth it, at all.
Who wants to pay for online services?
PS+ is just way more appealing and I've always thought Xbox Live Gold was a horrible thing to begin with, having to pay more just for online features is shit. It was the major reason for me to not bother replacing my 360 when it broke out of warranty and just to stick with the PS3.
Who wants to pay for online services?
Enough people otherwise they would not have paid. :v:
PS4 you are more than likely going to have to pay for internet service like xbox live anyways.
PS4's PSN is confirmed to be a free service, and it is running on the SAME NETWORK as PS3's and Vita's network.
Sony realizes how much money they are missing out on through a paid service like xbox live. The only reason they haven't started a paid subscription service is because the only legal way of them doing that is to change the name of PSN because they said PSN would always be free.
The next playstation will be the perfect opportunity for them to start.
What? you have no clue to what you are talking about, besides Sony profits from Playstation plus.
No problems with xbl here. I get to play with my old halo bros and thats well worth the 30 euros a year.
after I got apple TV for netflix and other streaming services...I really see no point in me having XBL Gold. All I do nowadays is play single player games or sport games. Brb, canceling XBL Gold.
I always disliked Xbox Live because I never really play any multiplayer games on my xbox. Only Dark Souls or sometimes Halo but we usually play locally. It's really annoying.
I don't necessarily mind paying for online gaming, I knew that risk when I got my 360 in 2006/7.
What I do mind is paying so I can use Netflix + ALL the other TV services like 4oD, Sky GO, fucking Youtube, getting my Forza Screenshots off my xbox, using Internet Explorer, talking to my friends on proper voice chat in a party or even using Skype on my Xbox, and all the other dumb ass things which you need Gold to do outside of online gaming.
Who ever thought PS+ was a good idea.
Oh cool I can save 7p on a hat for Hitman: Absolution.
awesome
Ehhh, had my XBL account since Halo 2 came out. I don't really touch my xbox any more, but I liked having it when I did have it. I didn't have to pay that much a year for it at all, really. At least in my opinion it wasn't much, not sure about others or people outside of the US and what not.
Who wants to pay for online services?
Xbox users.
Fuck no it's not worth it. All it does is provide me something to annoy stupid obnoxious fucking idiots who happen to be arguing about which console is better with.

It hasn't been confirmed as free, show me a source.
Most people play on PSN because they don't want to pay for a service like xbox live. Playstation+ makes a very small fraction of what xbox live makes and sony knows that.
It's never been worth it. What kind of article is this?
I cancelled my XBL subscription in 2010. The Arcade was the only thing that I was interested in. The community wasn't worth paying for at all.
PSN+ is better tbh, I got several quality games for free.
xbox live requires you to pay for gold in order to pay for netflix to use netflix
i dont understand why anyone bought into this scam

You only save 7p? I've been getting a ton of shit free.
You only save 7p? I've been getting a ton of shit free.
most addons i've seen have some truly shitty discounts placed on them.
Then again, prices actually change depending on your locale, same for XBL too. Usually they're small which might explain the shite discounts.

Yeah man, it's a total ripoff. Who would pay $19.99 for downloading schedules, cross-game chat, cloud saves, 3 months of discounts, free games (pictured below) and a bunch of discounts on downloadable games and DLC?

No, I have an Xbox because of friends. I like Gold for other reasons. I own both PS3 and Xbox and out of both services I find that Xbox is reliable where as PS3 lags all to shit. Remember, those subscription fees are paying for servers, maintenance, updates, and customer service. You get what you pay for.
The reason PC gamers don't need to pay subscription fees is because as PC gamers they share the freedom of being able to host their own servers for their favorite games as well as the availability of mods to fix games that don't get regular updates or have features that the community believes to be lacking.

"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"
Yeah, totally justifies everything you just said.
I'm a PC gamer 90% of the time, a PS3 player 10% of the time (for exclusives) and an Xbox gamer 0% of the time. Whenever I do play a PS3 game online, it's something like Dark Souls, Twisted Metal and Dust514. I haven't experienced lag once and that whole "security scandal"? That happened over a year ago and was a one time incident. Inconvenient? Yes but the same thing could have happened to Microsoft.
There is no way I am going to pay $7.99 a month to be advertised to. Same reason why I don't pay $60 a month for cable television, just to watch 15 minutes of a show and the other 15 are ads.
I shouldn't have to pay a fee to play my games I purchased online and I certainly shouldn't have to pay $7.99 to access my fucking netflix account which is free to access on every other device in existence. Anyways, enjoy playing your multiplatform games, that probably look and perform worse than its counterparts, hope your "friends" are worth putting up with a lack of decent games, a barrage of advertisements and an overall shitty console that hasn't been relevant since Halo Reach came out.
that whole "security scandal"? That happened over a year ago and was a one time incident. Inconvenient? Yes but the same thing could have happened to Microsoft.
it actually did happen back in november of 2011, and back in 2007. barely anyone actually reported on it.

these are the only two articles i can find on it anymore. however there are people who still can't get into their xbox live accounts since 2007.
sony however had a full scale apology and gave everyone free games when it happened to them.
