price of game: $11.99 amount in steam wallet: $11.35 fuck
feel kind of ripped off. it is a fun game and it's pretty funny and all that, but I don't think it's worth the $15 full-price tag. couple hours of good fun but I don't see myself playing it anymore [editline]17th October 2013[/editline] really it was just a tad-bit too short
If a game can be beaten casually in 4 minutes (assuming casually since it's an achievement, meant for anyone to be able to get), then it's not good.
And anyone who says that about this game is not very smart.
[sp]Is there any way to escape after turning on the Mind Control device? ;___;[/sp]
[sp]That is the point, it presents you with random buttons in a room and a timer is ticking off, but you ard not in control[/sp]
And not needlessly pretentious.
I dunno, I think the narrator of this game trying to be a chucklefuck during every possible line seems pretentious. Just the way I felt during the demo.
I dunno, I think the narrator of this game trying to be a chucklefuck during every possible line seems pretentious. Just the way I felt during the demo.
But all of it makes sense if you actually listen.
I dunno, I think the narrator of this game trying to be a chucklefuck during every possible line seems pretentious. Just the way I felt during the demo.
How is making jokes pretentious?
How is making jokes pretentious?
are you just asking how you can be pretentious in general? or maybe realise that he just thinks these jokes in particular are pretentious because they were written by a pretentious person.
Oh shit oh shit oh shit Gonna buy it as soon as I get back home, this'll be great
the demo was pretty boring i have to admit, its a unique game but it doesn't have much to offer $15 is a little too much tho
Enjoyed the Narrative, The Gameplay was more about pure curiosity and secret finding than anything else.
are you just asking how you can be pretentious in general? or maybe realise that he just thinks these jokes in particular are pretentious because they were written by a pretentious person.
If you're pretentious you're trying to put more meaning behind something than there really is. How is making jokes about just standing there doing nothing pretentious? How is making jokes about what kind of games you like/do not like based on your choices in the game pretentious? How is just making jokes in general pretentious? It's jokes, I don't understand how you can make a pretentious joke. I really don't get it. It's a game stuffed with jokes, not DEEP philiosophical statements and meanings just because Stanley is a button pusher following orders given on the screen and so are you because you're playing games telling you what to do. It's not some deep convoluted message the game is trying to get a cross, it's just trying to pull your leg and make you laugh.
If you're pretentious you're trying to put more meaning behind something than there really is.
I felt there was deep meaning. A lot of the stuff in Stanley's Parable is about Player Choice and the difference between telling a story and allowing the player to define their own story through their choices. There were many laughs along the way but there were plenty of daunting, grim and even a bit macabre parts.
Well that was kind of disappointing, I thought there would be more content. But in the end it was only the original Source mod with a better presentation :/
There is 3x times more content than in mod, game took me 4 hours and I can have 4 hours more, because there is one ending that I did not had done. So, up to 7 hours of gameplay. But for most people, 3-4h
Type 'facepunch' while in-game.
This game has a lot of potential to be a horror game. I mean it's already creepy enough that the Narrator will turn downright evil if you mess with the story.
Do you know the [sp]little room with the emails in the credits section? Theres an email from some guy named Wong Yong or something who offered money. I don't even know if all of these mails are real but I wrote an email to Wong Yong regarding the money. I hope I'll get an answer.[/sp]
[sp]what the hell do i do after turning on the mind control device?[/sp]
[sp]you die[/sp] I love how the [sp]blue door / minecraft / portal ending directly addresses peoples' complaints[/sp] that the game isn't big enough or gameplay-oriented enough. Also, the [sp]philosophy[/sp] in the [sp]confusion[/sp] ending was pretty legit, until it started getting all wacky. Nothing particularly mind-blowing though.
This had a good premise, but overall it was a sort of a ripoff imo. I really regret just wasting $12. To anyone who's been thinking of buying it, you're way better off just watching a walkthrough on youtube. [editline]sd[/editline] I admit though that I had a few laughs as I went further along. I am kicking myself for buying this right now
I paid £8 and have gotten about 4-5 hours of entertainment out of the game, that I genuinely have not experienced in this format. Alternatively, I could have paid £13 for a 1h20m movie that ends up being average at best and over-hyped. I think I made the right choice.
I bet none of you even played the [sp]baby[/sp] game for 4 hours straight.
I bet none of you even played the [sp]baby[/sp] game for 4 hours straight.
Question is why 4 hours? why not 5? or 1? or 6? It has to be connected to something.
Are there even endings where you find out [sp]where your co-workers are[/sp] and how the [sp]mind control machine[/sp] works?
While it didn't offer me much more than the mod did, in terms of surprises and enjoyment, I'm happy with buying it because I know I'm supporting genuinely great guy in the industry, and got a fair few laughs out of it.

Still a good game, though. Just a bit of a let-down if you expected to have a new experience from what the mod gave you.
In a nutshell, for me the experience was like having Wheatley from P2 dragging me through silly shenanigans but without the portals.
