That's awful. The game provided you with 116 hours worth of entertainment (it obviously was entertaining, else you'd have stopped after a few hours) and yet you refunded it anyway. The game may be objectively shit, but I feel like if you get 116 hours out of something you should pay for it.
Have you heard of this game's gameplay loop? It's basically like a second and third job if you want to do literally anything. You have to, for IRL hours on end, shove berries/meat into a dinosaur's mouth to tame it. [editline]30th August 2017[/editline] The whole "wow X hours of entertainment you shyster!" argument falls flat when it comes to these kinds of games. Either you barely play at all and start from scratch every time, or you commit your whole life to the game so you can actually have fun. 's why they're so popular with kids.
Looks like valve reinstated regular refund policy for ark so if you didn't refund it before you can't anymore. And I did just go through the regular steam support page and asked for a refund, nothing special.

Does it actually run on your average PC? Last time I tried it (a year ago) I had to play on lowest quality settings and still had like 10 fps.

Those values could be changed to literally instant taming and the like.
I run a dedicated ark server for my friends with just a couple quality of life mods, and we jacked around with the settings so the grind isnt nearly as bad. Most things are sped up 2-3 times. I do enjoy the game, but Ill be the first to tell you its not well coded, there isnt a lot of coherency in animal behavior and shitboxes, and the linux dedicated server is the most ass backward house of cards software Ive ever seen for games.

Maybe it's just me, but I know that I'm not going to put 5 literal days of gameplay into something I'm not having fun with...
These games are slow burners, its like refunding an mmo after 2 hours of levelling when the endgame is what is its focused on
I understand what you're saying, but I honestly think (although I do not even play the game) that this is just a bandwagon and if people can get their money back they're going to do it anyway regardless of whether it's the ethically right thing to do or not.

Maybe they got the game before it went completely to shit and stuck around hoping it would improve. Maybe they liked a lot about the game and kept trying to find enjoyment from it. Maybe for some the tipping point was only just recently.
