Far Cry 4 pirates accidentally reveal themselves to Ubisoft
Deus Ex 1 had to have a sound play before you were allowed off Liberty Island. Since downloading the game as is would take a long time, pirates would trim the game, and usually would delete that sound.
People on forums complained, and would immediately would be outed.
Early Russian bootleg copies of Half-Life 2 compressed all sounds, and the lip sync files were lost in compression, resulting in total absense of any lip animations :v:
(also "A.I. Disabled..." and much more fun stuff)
I still have mine :v:
Well according to TB's port report, its just a slider. There's no actual numerical value of what setting the slider is on. So its kind of a bitch to find out what FoV you have.
These go to clockwise
As someone who took a chance and bought the game after hearing people with lesser hardware were getting a solid 60 FPS, I can't blame anyone for pirating it and in fact I'd applaud them for doing so. Ubisoft has continually shit on PC users and the only studio on their end that seems to give a shit about the PC are Massive (The Division) and the studios working with the UbiArt framework (Rayman, Child of Light, Valiant Hearts) and Red Storm (the guys who worked on the old Rainbow Six games plus Rocksmith the guitar teaching game, for some reason).
Maybe the new Rainbow Six guys will treat us well. Who knows.
I pirated it and it had an fov slider.
Unluckily the mouse controls were mapped to controller analog input and there was hardcore mouse deceleration, literally impossible to aim with with low mouse dpi let alone high dpi.
Thank christ I pirated it and never bought it, I uninstalled immediately. This is why demos should still be a thing.
Isn't the FOV slider also really bad? Like I heard it capped at 60
Not at all, it lacks indicators but it definitely isn't capped there (wouldn't make any sense if it was since 60 is usually the lowest setting), but it is a bit glitchy. I've had the FOV reset to default after capturing radio towers (entering/exiting vehicles fixes it up though) and sitting in the secondary seats of a vehicle and facing forward while it moves makes the FOV go completely crazy, but as soon as the vehicle stops, you turn at least 90 degrees, or you exit the vehicle, it goes back to your setting. My guess would be that problem is a result of the FOV slider being a bit lazily added, memory serving people who pirated it said they had that issue in any vehicle seat when they adjusted FOV via .xml editing, so Ubisoft forgot to fix that for seats other than driver.
Also there's fucking negative mouse acceleration which you can't turn off. It's like fucking Arma II. Horrible.
Try googling your issues because claiming it is unfixable. This fix was found the same day the game came out.

how does that even work?
doesn't it go faster the more you move the mouse?
so this goes slower the more you move???
can we go over the word pretentious here
Thanks for the TBwiki worthy info but god forbid I bring up his nasty habit of reminding his viewers that he spent money on several titans every time a game had popping textures or the framerate stutters. Sorry I didn't check up on his new rig, the GPU still isn't everything and he often seemed to miss that point regardless of what the true issues were.
imagine what the game plays like on a lesser rig than dual 980's
Yeah the mouse input is really odd, aiming is sluggish, but using the camera spins around super quickly.
I read a few posts that say they don't do raw input on PC, so they're getting the default mouse acceleration Windows performs and are apparently trying to negate that, sounds stupid and it'd be really odd if they were doing that (Since raw input is all around better and isn't affected by mouse acceleration)
Edit: You do want mouse acceleration, but for a bunch of reasons you don't want the default mouse acceleration that's provided, games should be scaling the input themselves (For controller and mouse)

He couldn't get AC:U to run well on that rig, yet with a GTX 770, i5-3570k, and 16GB RAM I've been able to get a steady 30-35 FPS even in a large crowd. Environment and Texture settings are on High, Bloom is enabled, FXAA, SSAO, Shadows on Low, at 1920X1080. Nvidia drivers 344.65
So I'd imagine similar performance in FC4 for me.

30-35 fps isn't exactly good performance you know

more, the opposite, really

I'd love more FPS, but getting over 30 is certainly playable, which to me is performing well.
I'd love more FPS, but getting over 30 is certainly playable, which to me is performing well.
it's playable, but completely unacceptable. a 770 should be MORE than enough to play it at a steady 60-100. The game is simply flat out very badly optimized. You'd expect 30 fps from a 560 ti or something.
Some people with decent rigs get awful performance yet people with bad rigs might not. IT's optimized so badly and ubisoft doesn't even care.
[editline]20th November 2014[/editline]
people who spend huge money on a rig yet it still runs awful, is not ok at all. Imagine a rig that doesn't have a 770. Minimal is 680 on the recommended specs. That is usually in the MAX specs for many games I see.
Ubisoft doesn't give a shit about any of their customers.
of course you aren't saying it's well optimized or anything, but he has a better rig and couldn't get a steady 60 even then.
There's always that one guy in these threads that's all like "um well excuse me I can run it on x specs with x fps."
I remember there was one guy a little while ago saying something along those lines and said he was getting 15-20 FPS and saying it ran well.

I played Alan Wake with 15-20 fps and beat it. It make the game INSANELY hard to play. Very difficult.
if it wasn't such an amazing game I would have been too pissed off to bother.

Try not snarking at someone about not doing their research, and then not doing your own research. The "fix" doesn't work for a large number of people, including myself, and only partially works for many more. I am loving the game, but the mouse movement makes me really annoyed at times.
Also there's fucking negative mouse acceleration which you can't turn off. It's like fucking Arma II. Horrible.
Except you can turn off Arma 2's...

Didn't work for me as well. The mouse seems too stiff at times, and doesn't seem to flow. Like I'm aiming through syrup.

Try checking what you link to. That shit doesn't work, and neither does any other duct tape fix you can find on google so far.

Did you read the thread and try all the XML tweaks peoples suggested or just try the OP?
Actually disable mouse acceleration/smoothing: Open My Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4[account id string]\GamerProfile.xml and set MouseAccelerationOn, MouseAcceleration, Smoothness, Smoothness_Ironsight and UseMouseSmooth to 0.
I've done it on my install and so have 3 of my friends who've all confirmed it fixed their mouse also; you might just be unlucky.
just buy it on a console, lol
just buy it on a console, lol
The sad thing is that Ubisoft is so bad at optimization, you probably would get the same performance.
just buy it on a console, lol
Joke about this, but it's seriously your best option when it comes to Ubisoft games. Their PC ports have a notorious history of being bad, so stop buying them. If you really want to play their games, buy them on consoles.
The real problem comes when their games run poorly on consoles like AC:U supposedly does.
just buy it on a console, lol
See, I would actually do this, except fuck controllers.
It's really a damn shame.

Huh, his game ran well, but there was frequent fps drops? Seems to me like you didn't watch the review at all. His problem with the game was that it didn't ran at 60 fps on a constant basis, and it often was around 30 fps.
The problem with FC4 is entirely different. It's not because of heavy amount of NPCs at the same time, it's literally loading the map as you travel fast. Two different things.

No. Buy them on PC when they're on bargain, or they might just drop the PC release at all.
Buying them later discounted would probably indicate that PC wants a more refined experience.
Then again it's fucking Ubisoft, they probably just don't give a fuck.
I got mixed feelings about this. One the one hand, shame on people for pirating it, I guess.
On the other hand, shame on ubi for not having a FOV slider in the game to begin with. That's almost worse in my opinion, they shouldn't be proud of that.

They fixed it in the day one patch. Honestly it would be kind of an interesting idea if it was deliberately left out prior to that, seems like a unique way to crack down on pirates that won't hurt legitimate customers all that much.

I don't get how this is "cracking down" on pirates.
-Haha ur a pirat!
-Yes, and?
-Hahahaha got u haha sure showed u xD
because its hilarious to see people who hate the company pirate their game regardless and actually complain via official forums or twitter and expect customer service
It's also funny to see people pay money for a Ubisoft game and expect a a good product.
a good way to protest a company is to not consume their product at all, showing that you will not under any circumstance do anything to get near their shit
pirating their games (and completing them/enjoying them to their fullest extent) makes you look like an idiot and shows that you have no integrity
How exactly?
if i was protesting against a company, indulging in their products freely/illegally while complaining they are shit would make me look like a hypocrite
I'm not protesting against a company or downloading their games. Can I say that they're shit now?
