Whatever they set the final price to it'll probably be less than Sony or Microsofts consoles (especially microsoft) which is good.
I'm betting it will be around $300.
I'm liking the analyst price but I can't see it being that low. It converts to less than £200 which would be unbelievable for a new console.
$250
Whatever they set the final price to it'll probably be less than Sony or Microsofts consoles (especially microsoft) which is good.
The launch price for the next generation Xbox is supposed to be $299, and the analyst price for the WiiU is $300, IE: identical.
If you look at the launch prices of the current generation at launch, the Wii was $250, so it's going up on that end, while the 360 models were $299 for the basic system and $399 for the fully featured system, so if anything, the price is going down. Then you have the PS3, which launched with a price of $399 for the cheapest model, and $499 for the one model and $599 for two different models.
So why single out Microsoft?
I'm liking the analyst price but I can't see it being that low. Also, Google's currency converter comes out to roughly £240 if they base the conversion off JPY to GBP and the Y30,000 estimate, which seems quite likely really.
[editline]26th June 2012[/editline]
And hell, if they were to do a flat conversion of JPY to USD, it would be $377.50, not $300. So that actually puts the estimate higher than that of next generation Xbox.

Except the $299 Xbox 360 was a piece of shit due to its lack of hard drive, you basically spent $399 if you were going to be playing it hardcore. The PS3 launched at $499.99 so I have no idea what you're talking about there.

the ps3 launched at five hundred and ninety nine us dollars
I think 250, around that region.

In Ireland the 360 came out for €400, for the good one that is. The PS3 came out for fucking €800.
best guess for me will be $250-399
any higher and nintendo would be askin too much
the ps3 launched at five hundred and ninety nine us dollars
Higher end model, I'm pretty sure.
Either way it's a fuckload of money for a goddamn console. For that money i could build a PC that ran circles, triangles, squares, and polygons around that.

I think you'll have a very hard time building a PC with $300.
Higher end model, I'm pretty sure.
So you're saying it doesn't count because it's the higher end model, but it's a negative against the 360 for having it's highest model be $399?
I think you'll have a very hard time building a PC with $300.
I built my originally for 300
Granted i kept my terrible graphics card

For 300 dollars? Please. You could do it, wouldn't be faster than a console.

Never said that but even the ps3 low end model had a hard drive and recharging controller by default.
I think you'll have a very hard time building a PC with $300.
the computer I use right now was $300 around 3 years ago, (granted I didn't need to buy accessories or an OS) still does a fine job at modern games
I'd say 200-250€
The Wii was about 200€ when it released here, the X360 was maybe 400 or 450, and the PS3 was a motherfucking 550€, if not 600.

What? Especially Microsoft? Which console was five hundred and ninety-nine dollars again? I know people have said this already but this is probably one of the most ridiculous posts I've seen :v:
In other news, yeah it was a problem. I took one look at the 3DS and saw mostly shitty games and a price tag roughly equivalent to an Xbox and saw no reason to buy it really - there hasn't been a single game on the 3DS I've wanted still.
It's going to be more expensive than the Wii, but probably not by a lot.
I'm guessing 300.

Though it does say something when the best games on your system are releases of much older games.

Yeah, that's kinda the thing - I don't want re-releases, I have the original Ocarina of Time on N64 and on an emulator, and I've probably played it about a hundred times. Resident Evil is honestly never going to impress me with story, and it's gameplay has never been enough to make up for a shitty story so it's basically an empty bucket of a mobile console for me :v:
Well it's already set to repeat the same mistake of no games at launch, as I think every nintendo system post-gamecube has suffered from. The least they can do is sell it at a nice price.

from what's on wikipedia, the nintendo 64 had a pretty pitiful launch as well
i legitimately think that the psvita probably has one of the best launches in consoles, from an amount of games perspective

The N64 launched with super mario 64, which was a pretty big deal. I mean most consoles don't launch with more than one good game, and it wasn't even a year till goldeneye and ocarina came out so the N64 took off pretty quick. It's been quite a while since the 3DS came out and it's still like looking into an empty bin... The vita at least has one or two games I'd consider buying but it's still not great.
the ps3 launched at five hundred and ninety nine us dollars
It was almost $1000 in Australia at launch :v:
