EA keeps milking the same rehash over and over again. Yet they can't even properly code physics realistically. They will release the game, bugs will be spotted, only for EA never to patch it again. Happened with NFS: Shift, happened with NFS: Shift 2, happened with NFS: The Run. What makes this any different "Ricer shit?" Really? I like customization actually. Goodness forbid we have another Gran Turismo clone where you have dull and boring vehicle choices. What's wrong with being a car enthusiast? I think the Automotive Addicts would like a word
I like customization too, but when you can do this: to a car, then it leaves the realm of customization and enters the realm of ricer ~ep1c pr0 rac3r~ crap. my point is, in NFS, the customization can't really be anything but rice; that's how EA designed the games. try as you may, you really can't tastefully modify the cars looks.
Eh, I don't know. It really depends on how much you can customize it, and how much the game makes you do it. Like I seriously fucking hated Underground 2 after it forced me to put spinners, hydraulics, neon, vinyl, and a stereo system in a Honda Civic. I literally could not progress through the game without defiling my car because it wasn't "stylish" or whatever enough. Underground 1 had this too, but it wasn't as ridiculous. It's also worth noting that I was 12 at the time, when the game came out, and I thought street modified cars were really cool.
It gave you the choice to customize your car. You didn't have to put stupid looking stuff on your car, there were conservative choices. When people look at modified cars, they think of Too Fast Too Furious or NFS. There's nothing wrong with improving a vehicle, specially if you take it out to the track every once in a while
I like customization too, but when you can do this: to a car, then it leaves the realm of customization and enters the realm of ricer ~ep1c pr0 rac3r~ crap. my point is, in NFS, the customization can't really be anything but rice; that's how EA designed the games. try as you may, you really can't tastefully modify the cars looks.
You had to pick the most riced-out Honda picture out there. What, we can't have a little fun in at the race track? A modified car is all of a sudden ricer? NFS games had great choices, just because you can have a modification selection doesn't mean you had to use them. But it is true, in those previous NFS games they went with the movie-route style. (Though if you knew, race and drift teams in Japan do go all out with their car deco) I like the NFS: Underground 1 and 2 series for the sheer fact you're racing on the city streets, dodging cars. That and you can create your dream vehicle, pretty close to the actual thing. Actually, here's my car in NFS: Underground 2, a screenshot. This car barely has anything but I used it to play through the game
It gave you the choice to customize your car. You'd need to have a certain amount of them to be able to enter races to progress through the game and depending on where you're at in the game, you'll pretty much be forced to throw whatever shit you can find on your car, rather than what you actually want. Especially in UG 2.
Summary of the thread: Every NFS game was great from gamecube and under

It's really demeaning to me as it's associated with racist undertones. Your perception needs to be differentiated from that of "rice" to "car enthusiast." I bet you would say the same if some guy got different wheels on a BMW or some Eurotuner Regardless, how is that 240sx rice lol? That's performance at it's finest and the rims are far from rice when they're genuine Japanese molds. They're also not huge man, car's on performance coils: (get with the DRIFTAAAN) With that star shit on NFS, what I did was bolt the stuff just for those missions then unbolted them right after. But like I said, they went movie-style on the game design so meh. I liked it for the actual racing, not the excessive looks. NFS: Shift 1 and Shift 2 were more conservative in that respect and that's why I liked them

Plus, "rice" is an acceptable term, and it came from "rice burner", meaning, a japanese car with large amounts of modifications. And no, I wouldn't say it's rice if someone got different wheels on a BMW or some other euro tuner, because new wheels does not equal rice. I'm not saying that any visual modification to a car makes it look bad; what I'm saying is that the need for speed games force you to use the crazy modifications to advance in the game. they're specifically avertising to the boy-racer crowd, the ones who buy a shitty 240sx, give it a body kit and some wheels, and call it a sports car. And also, I am a car enthusiast myself, so seeing all these nice cars in the Underground+ NFS games get riced out makes me cringe, which is why I hate it so much.

Can't Edit what is this shit. I tried to say. They should make the ultimate Nfs with Hot pursuit-Most wanted-Underground as a hybrid.

And then thread was Automotive Addicts megathread.

If this is true, then I think it will actually turn out pretty good. Whatever the next NFS is, Criterion looks like they're the ones developing it.
In November 2011, Criterion announced that they are "looking for talented Cinematic Artists to work on the world’s number one, multi award winning, arcade racing franchise" and also looking for an AI programmer saying "Our current ambition requires an innovative programmer to deliver killer entertainment experiences with believable, open world AI Racing Drivers" it's speculated that Criterion looking for people to work on a new Need for Speed installment
Customization makes the game a truckload more interesting, and a story is nicer than "racing with expensive cars and fleeing police". Most Wanted's story was actually pretty cool, and its the only game that I can play after all this time. The AA forum here doesn't really likes "ricer" NFS games. I for one enjoy them alot. [editline]20th April 2012[/editline]
I liked the run and undercover...
Those were actually pretty good. And so was Carbon (up to a certain level, it felt like a rehash of MW) When I played The Run, I had to use a keyboard, so it was kind of crap, and finished the game in like 3 hours or something, but it was cool. Undercover just got boring after doing everything. I find myself "racing" against cops in MW all the time. [editline]20th April 2012[/editline]
I honestly preferred Underground 2 over Most Wanted. Honda Civic forever.
IMO, if it had night and day (or at least a bigger change in weather), a few more cars (or cars that were nice to use) and cops, it would be better than MW. Mitsubishi 3000GT <3 hearing Helmet, speeding through the highway... Oh man... The gears made this weird sound that almost sounded like an explosion in the car. Awesome.
Carbon pretty much is Most Wanted 2 since it continued the story from Most Wanted :I

Those are all my cars, except for the Carrera GT which has no body kit at all and just different rims.
