It's still stupid that you can't at least randomly gain a loot when winning the game. The fact you have absolutely no reward defeats the purpose of continuing this gamemode.
Also I agree with what dgg and bragdras said about the gamemode itself. It's cool but the execution was kind of poor in the end. I seriously hope there will be either some fixes from Valve or from the community itself.
Better stop playing TF2 all together, then, since no gamemode gives you rewards
Better stop playing TF2 all together, then, since no gamemode gives you rewards
uuuh I'm saying it's stupid to keep away the MvM loot from people who don't necesseraily want to buy with real money for it.
Why no engie bot...
Why no engie bot...
because we dont need a dude who crits everything in the face with a wrench
Why no engie bot...
because valve hates the engineer.
I still havent tried it
2 hour queue time for a short match is too much
because we dont need a dude who crits everything in the face with a wrench
Yet spy bot's can face stab you.
It's really quite fun, but the game ends way too quickly once you get all the mad upgrades.
Valve's matchmaker is insanely fucking retarded. I host a Mann vs. Machine server and it's empty nearly 50% of the time. Then I go on Facepunch and see people complaining about how they can never get into a server. What the fuck, Valve?
Because they're the same kind of bot as offline practice uses. Since they're filling in for a player, they take up a slot. Yes, they could have made it say 6 slots are on the server and hide the bot slots, but it's not that big an issue.
Like I said. Why do they need to take a player slot again?
No other game and gamemod that uses waves of bots takes up a player slot, and when they do, it's one bot that takes a slot and controls 50 million.
There is no reason every individual bot needs to take up a player slot.
Still can't join any because the moment you click on even an empty server it's instantly full and the ones that aren't full bitch at how you didn't use the matchmaking system. It's bullshit. I don't wanna wait for 20 minutes to play my damn game nor do I wanna send a large portion of time clicking on every server in the browser and hope beyond hope I get one that isn't full.
Doesn't exactly take forever to go through 5-15 servers to get into one you can play on.
Will the full amount of players it's actually pretty easy, it's too short as well.
All-engie teams are fun in MvM.
Like I said. Why do they need to take a player slot again?

I think you're comparing apples to oranges here. Saying that, for example, L4D doesn't need any slots whatsoever for the infected isn't the same thing. MvM was built to reuse the bots that had already been made for TF2, that need significantly more intelligence than the mindless Infected do.
They could just hide that the bots take up a slot, but why bother doing something that almost no one will see? Most MvM players aren't coming in through the server browser, but instead through the matchmaking system, so they'll never see that 26 slots on the server are for bots, and only 6 are for humans.
I get in a party with six people. The game manager says "42 empty servers".
Not only does it take us 20 minutes to find a server, twice it says that they are not up to date.
found a team of really good players last night in mann-up. joined a game that had already been running and put all my money into soldier lasers. Tanks were never easier. we all queue'd up together again and decided to have a spy (me) and scout to collect all the money for the first round, then threw my money back into lasers again. my penetration was credit to team.
The second round was a mission i had already done though :( so i still have only 2 completed.
because valve hates the engineer.
Honestly, its the only explanation I can think of for the engineer.
i spent 20 minutes trying to get into a game last night, finally got in and as soon as the bots spawned everyone started lagging so bad it was completely unplayable
Whats the deal with that by the way? I have that problem aswell, how do you fix it? Any clues?

Why would a higher AI complexity need to take up a player slot?
Really, I don't get the logic here. They aren't more complex than a unit in Starcraft, and you can have tons of those.
The robots also do way less than a bot on a normal TF2 map. The weapons are set and their task is to walk from point A to point B, pick up a bomb and perform a shooting/deflecting/sneak action when an enemy/projectile is detected and within range.
I hoping the tank is just a placeholder for something better down the line.
I've played through the three main missions with some friends on a private server
Very fun, but the difficulty doesn't scale by player count. Based on my experiences as players had to leave, prepare to get your shit kicked in if you have fewer than 4 people.
My group won with 3 people :v:
I like the gamemode, it's neat but does have some huge flaws
I find 3 things a bit ( / a lot) disappointing, the first 2 being purely cosmetic:
1.The robots are on BLU team, that's fine if it was only on the technical side of things, but they have BLU colored items and skins.. Very irking after looking at all the images and the trailer, especially considering how the trailer shows the strong need of both team needing to get together to defeat GRAY's GRAY robots.
2.Giants.. Are not giants, completely different from the trailer.
3.It doesn't seem to scale to the number of players.. And bots don't work (on the player's side), it should either scale the overall difficulty compared to the number of players, or have bots automatically fill in empty slots and leave when real players join, one of the two.
And this might be but a personal opinion, but "TANKS" are very disappointing, when you look at the image of the trail on the ground and how they say "we don't know what that is, but it seems huge and seem to run on human blood, we think so, at least", you expect some huge-ass rolling machine of death delivery, not a big box on wheel that go from A to B and do nothing but drop bomb in the hatch.. I was very disappointed when I saw what the *TANK* was, I was almost expecting the tank to be a giant sentry on wheels with the top-half of a robo-engineer peeking out, controlling it and would be the weak point.
Though most of the "problems" are mostly visual, it still feels very unsatisfying to destroy BLU colored bots instead of GRAY colored ones after looking at the comic and the trailer, it feels really lackluster in that category, especially considering they HAVE the gray skin version, since they USED them..

Use the server browser for MVM. Using the coop button is useless.
Just be sure that there is less than 6 people on the server since you'll just become a spectator and wait otherwise.
As for MvM itself. It's... Uh, ok. I love the upgrades, I absolutely hate how you won't even get half of them. Waves are so damn few. 8 rounds? Really? That's it and then we do it again? You have this shitton of upgrades we have to choose and we could have gotten them all if you made more waves which would in every possible way be more fun.
I don't understand why there is a limit of 6 people to play, why can't the difficulty just rise/lower based on the amount of players? It's kind of annoying.
The fact that you can't really do all waves without an engineer sucks. Why do you have to force one poor guy to be a specific class? Especially when it's the least interesting to play in my opinion.
It's a good concept done bad if you ask me. It's just so limiting, limiting the players playstyle and number, limits the weapons that are useful, has no wave flexibility.
This is all of the flaws summed perfectly
I would love to see an unlimited wave server with custom amounts of cash to be set, with things to be custom not pre-set by valve.
The lag at times is unbearable, literally and the playercount should be set by the server, having 6 players is okay but imagine 10 or 15?
Ever played a custom l4d2 server? 20 or so survivors, fuckton of zombies? The lag is worth it, it's literally mind blowingly fun
I really hope they do expand on this
I heard that there are servers where (i don´t know how, maybe with plugins), this mode can be played with more of 6 players, but those are pretty unstable (it creates a lot of lag, and the server tends to crash).
Larger rounds and improve the lobby are the only things that i want to be fixed. The rest is fine.
Also, some players saw the engineer robot in the advanced versions of the maps, but only builds teleports.
