It's almost like they intentionally want this game to fail, they just keep doing stupid shit with it.
Maybe thats the point, the fans have been begging for an online TES game for ages, and maybe they want to shut them up "YOU WANTED THIS SHIT, NOW LOOK"
The beta didn't feel like anything unique. It just felt like another traditional MMO.
My top 3 characters alone, when adding their playtime up, is 6456 hours, give or take a few. Lets round your total up to $2200 to include any faction/realm transfers and character renames. So on the whole, per hour, this game has cost me 2200/6456 which is ~34c per hour. Expensive. Not to mention I'm being very generous with your numbers considering I've played since halfway through 2005 and had brief spells of not playing.
By now you must be a wizard IRL
By now you must be a wizard IRL
I can cast so many hardcore spells but my mum won't let me.
Before Skrim came out, the impression I got from the TES boards is that they didn't want an MMO.
I can't find a single person, TES fan or not, who wanted to see an MMO.
For a game, it's expensive. For the quality of game it is, it's absurd and a joke I would pay $50 for an almost copy paste of Skyrim, but with 2 to 4 player Co-op added, or even 16 players where everyone can do their own shit on the server. That's that type of TES multiplayer anyone wanted.

I pre-ordered the digital version of the Imperial Edition, was just $80. I've bought into and played every major MMO release, as well as plenty of free, more obscure ones. It's just what I do.
Maybe thats the point, the fans have been begging for an online TES game for ages, and maybe they want to shut them up "YOU WANTED THIS SHIT, NOW LOOK"
We want a CO-OP TES, not a fucking MMO. 2-4 freinds sit down and have a grand old time freeroaming an otherwise exactly the same as the single player game world, not world of skyrimcraft. nobody asked for an mmo, it's a terrible idea.
Before Skrim came out, the impression I got from the TES boards is that they didn't want an MMO.
Maybe not an MMO but people have been screaming for multiplayer in the realm of just simple drop in co-op of some sort. That way they wouldn't have to change the game at all and you could run dungeons with someone who didn't recently have their brain replaced with ketchup :v: [editline]29th January 2014[/editline]
nobody asked for an mmo, it's a terrible idea.
I still think an MMO could be fun, I had some fun with the beta. I'd just much prefer a co-op proper TES game.
Holy fuck, that article is so poorly written and completely rubbish. Also he offended me.
Bethesda details new f2p plan, plans to go f2p at [datePosted + 20], says they want "wider audience"
Do you mean Zenimax Online? Bethesda is not making ESO
I've always maintained this game is going to be a fucking massive bomb. Everything I've heard in the past couple of weeks regarding it only reinforces that. Collector's Edition exclusive races? Fucking awesome, yet totally irrelevant to the game pre-rendered cinematics that cost more than the GDP of some small nations to make? The completely absurd pricing model? Bethesda you better not try to gauge Fallout 4 players to recoup your losses on this massive failure...
I'm going to be honest, I'm pretty hopeful and would prefer it not free to play but very affordable, even if you had like, a shitty retail job. But I don't know if that'll happen. I actually skipped the second beta testing event. Albeit, it's beta so, yeah, won't have much, but, I don't know, this is the only MMO I'm interested in but I don't think I'm THAT interested in it. We'll see.
Bethesda you better not try to gauge Fallout 4 players to recoup your losses on this massive failure...

Bethesda has that amazing quality of being quantumly the shittiest company to ever exist yet at the same time be really amazing and make some really truly unique things... yet they fail to actually do it totally correctly so it's both an incredible experience and frighteningly badly made.

Do you mean Zenimax Online? Bethesda is not making ESO
guys please :v:
guys please :v:
oh fuck what have I done just uhh... nothing to see here! not nearly as bad as mistaking Arkane for bethesta Elder scrolls is a pretty Bethesda thing after all
Should have done fallout online This looks like another generic ye olde magic and dragon mmo
lol do you think they wouldnt turn that into another generic new destroyed green laser and gas mask mmo?
guys please :v:
I'm going to keep calling it Bethesda. Stop being so pedantic about it.
I'm going to keep calling it Bethesda. Stop being so pedantic about it.
but it's not bethesda. it's like calling world of warcraft an activision developed game. it's not, it's developed by blizzard even if they're under the same company.
I'm going to keep calling it Bethesda. Stop being so pedantic about it.
lmao what? "Stop being so pedantic, it's just an entirely different group of people"
It's almost like they intentionally want this game to fail, they just keep doing stupid shit with it.
Or they're stupidly over confident [editline]30th January 2014[/editline]
guys please :v:
Well Bethesda is publishing it and Zenimax is making it, so I guess they can share the blame because they're allowing it to happen.
Or they're stupidly over confident [editline]30th January 2014[/editline] Well Bethesda is publishing it and Zenimax is making it, so I guess they can share the blame because they're allowing it to happen.
Definitely stupidly overconfident, I think they're imagining that because it has the massively popular TES brand behind it there's no way it can fail. It -is- pretty weird that bethesda are publishing it and not zenimax
One of the big appeals to TES is the modding scene, also. You have more content available than anyone's PC can hold, data wise. MMO? Not a bit. Except a UI mod maybe. Which TESO certainly needs. Besides the combat, the UI is the biggest complaint I had. All the information is hidden behind menu's, and what little info isn't is all crammed in the small compass at the top of the screen using abstract icons
World of Warcraft since release. Vanilla - $50 TBC - $35 WotLK - $40 Cata - $40 Mist - $40 122 months @ $15/month = $1,830 Total - $2,035 TES is soooo expensive...
$2,035 doesn't really seem like a lot when you realize that the game as been active for over 9 years and has received consistent new content through out that time.
$2,035 doesn't really seem like a lot when you realize that the game as been active for over 9 years and has received consistent new content through out that time.
Though it does remind you just how much they could make. If you assume an average of 10 million subscribers, that'd be 20 billion dollars. No wonder people tried so hard to jump on the MMO bandwagon :v:

Bethesda Sioftworks and Bethesda Game Studios are two entirely different things. Bethesda Game Studios ONLY develops Elder Scrolls and Fallouit games. They have nothing to do with any other Bethesda published games at all. That of course, includes Elder Scrolls Online.
sup swefox well without all the swindling
I don't see the problem in it really.
