A lone modder has rebuilt Tomb Raider's Croft Manor in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

This map will be great for TTT then counter-strike to be honest. However she did a very good job so far on bringing back the manor that I've not see in a long time, and this video shows very good fond memories of the game that I have not played in AGES.
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude
I remember playing this shit so much because I was so afraid to play the real part of the game
locking the butler in the freezer, every time
I tested this map, and the locker does work, and if someone is dumb enough to go into it you can get locked in and I love it, the mansion is one of my many memorable maps of any games.

Already a TTT version that looks Identical
You're missing the point. It purposely looks 'shit': it's supposed to be a more or less 1:1 remake of the manor from TRII, retro textures and all.
If those people reach out to sites/blogs or make videos of their maps, someone would.
It intentionally looking like shit doesn't mean it's not shit. Whether it looks like shit on purpose or not, it's still not deserving of an article.
The butler used to creep the fuck out of me.
pay 'omage
oh hey
someone made their first map
232 custom-made textures and 1:1 replicated geometry isn't good enough reason for it to gain attention? If passion and effort isn't enough to warrant attention then what is? Lens flares and bloom out the ass? HD textures that look like someone just cranked the sharpness slider in photoshop? Enlighten us.
I don't necessarily agree with him (I'm not even entirely sure on his point, him saying shit three times in ten words while throwing in a double negative or two kind of confused me), but passion and effort apparently isn't enough to gain recognition when there are tons of maps that get created with passion, effort, originality, and very pleasing geometry and texture work that hardly get any recognition.
"modder" ... it's called mapping.

Please dont be this fucking dumb with semantics. Modding is not mapping, its 2 completely different things, and no matter how you try and word it so its modding will just make you come off as a complete retard.
Plus people arent shitting on the map, its just not super impressive and the article is just shit. She said its just a nice fun little map shes making, and thats exactly what it looks like.
Honestly im more impressed with her texture work, 232 textures, even if its just ripping and slapping into source, is still a lot work, especially when messing with the VTF and VMF so a brick wall doesnt sound like flesh and instead sounds like brick.
Modding is just a general term that encompasses all aspects of custom content creation for games. Mapping, just like modeling, scripting, and the like, is still a type of modding.
I think its a pretty neat map actually. She does sound like she's giving a presentation for a high school computer class but the quality of the actual product is pretty good! I like the little details - I think she's done really well.
this is perfect
time to reenact all the times i stuffed that piece of shit butler into the freezer
Why is this news? Many mappers have recreated areas from other games in Source, this is not a special exception.

WHY ARE THESE FOOTSTEP NOISES SO FUCKING NOSTALGIC OH MY GOD
[editline]11th August 2014[/editline]
AAAAAAAAAAAA THE POOL NOISES
I've seen better maps made in CS:S, no offense to the creator. I couldn't do something like this, but there are much better maps out there that don't get a full page on it.
I think she made it to look exactly like the it did in the old games so of course it's going to look... old.
God forbid the writer writes a few lines of acknowledgment about a map he thought was nice.
You misread my post. There's nothing wrong with writing about a map, but it definitely does not warrant a news article. The author could've have done it on the map's workshop page or whatever.

It's news when it's a girl, apparently.
Getting real tired of your bullshit, game journos.
i think it's news because tomb raider was such a good game and this seems spot on
and the game journos probably found it really nostalgiac

Also she's been involved in some pretty popular maps iirc.
I don't understand why she felt the need to have a 'facecam' for this. She's showing off her map that she made, hell, it has no reason to have voice either.

The facecam was there for like 18 seconds, it's not that big of a deal.
honestly i would want people to see my face when making a legendary map so

No it's not a big deal. I never said it was. It's just unnecessary.
