how is the game?
Honestly I'm having an absolute blast with it. Playing as Rome on legendary and I've just wiped out the nearby guys and I'm moving into Egypt, about to take Carthage with an army of Gladiators :D 8/10 the technical issues haven't affected me as such so I'm lucky with that but the optimization is pretty devastating in the larger battles.

Carthage got completely wiped out by one. [editline]6th September 2013[/editline] *in my game
It's very fun. Probably the most enjoyable for me in the Total War series yet. But yeah, they need to optimize it a bit more some of the performance issues are really bad. I shouldn't have 10fps on the world map. Hopefully the patches keep coming.
Yeah i'm getting terrible FPS with the game especially in the campaign map, and i'm running an AMD 6870...not really worried though, just going to wait for some drivers. It's probably an issue with crossfire not being recognized properly. Can't wait for some more patches :)
The only major issue I've had with the game so far is units rout way too fast but thats already been modded so everything is great.

I would say avoid this game for awhile until they fix it up in patches. It's pretty bland and aimed at casual gamers from what i have heard.

I've already clocked 31 hours into this game. I highly recommend it once they polish the battle AI.
My FPS has never exceeded 25, even on the campaign map, the AI throws single units against my towns and in battles regularly throws all tactical acumen to the wind, attempting simply to mob my units through sheer brute force regardless of whatever it is they consist of aside from spearmen, who will charge towards cavalry almost obsessively. To round things off, I crash whenever I reach a certain point in a campaign game (about fifty turns in I think). God it's like the launch of ETW all over again.

Read that title and nearly had a heart attack. "Wtf I'm not gonna wait six months for a patch!"
Game is fucking amazing. Worth buying.
Read that title and nearly had a heart attack. "Wtf I'm not gonna wait six months for a patch!"
Fearing the Ides of March. That's what I call immersion!

It is fun actually seeing the Etruscans put up a fight. Nobody expects the Cappodocian Empire or some shit. Though admittedly the stronger minor factions makes playing as Carthage shit. All of my desert neighbors declared war on me and brought stacks of 15 units. Soon there is going to be some serious Minas Tirith level shit going down in the Capital. The only good news is I am fucking up the Spanish. [editline]7th September 2013[/editline]
I would say avoid this game for awhile until they fix it up in patches. It's pretty bland and aimed at casual gamers from what i have heard.
This is about as far away from Casual gaming as it can be. It is way more complicated than any Total War game to date. All it does is streamline some processes like unit recruitment and city management and it is for the better. But judging by it you have not even played the game so don't go posting shit if you haven't even tried it. Rome II, if you can ignore some of its bugs, is what I would call the best in the series, better than Rome I in many ways. It is just, well, different, and a lot of people don't like the change.
