apple's designs make me wet. they are gorgeous computers.
don't see why FP is fueled by mac hate.

I'm against the business behind it, and the die hard fans. (as in the ones with MacRumours accounts) The advertising also pisses me off to no end, but that goes in general with most advertising.
Getting mobbed by "hurr, should have got an iPad" whenever I take my Transformer out at school just infuriates me, I can buy what I want, and I bought something from a company that I agree with on moral levels, which I knew to be the better product for my personal needs, and I know that the same 5 people would do exactly the same if I brought a laptop in (if I had a laptop, I'd probably be running Arch on it) despite not actually knowing anything other than that a mac looks good, and that "it's the best and can't get viruses as they say it can't." (yes, I know people like this are a tiny minority, but meeting 5 people like it a day is enough to piss the fuck out of anyone)
I'll admit that the hardware is pretty solid, and it is definitely nicely designed (excluding a few major cases e.g. microphone next to speakers, antenna issues e.t.c), but I will not buy a product from a company that I cannot agree with or stand behind. (same reason I don't buy coca-cola company products)

i honestly don't like the company. this guy and his team really revolutionized the need for minimalistic designs. let's face it. 10 years ago, if someone was gonna make a phone with 1 button on it, they would have called you crazy. now look. they really did change the way we looked at electronic designs.
he deserves it. finally, one of the most ingenious parts of the company gets some credit.
Yeah, I agree that he definitely deserves the knighthood.
I'm glad credit has gone where it was due.
It came out in Steve Jobs' biography that when he came back to the company in 1997 he reorganised it based on giving Jonathan Ive as much power as possible because he thought the guy was a pro
Seems he was right
Well yeah, but the problem with Apple was the ugly OS.
Even the OS looks nice, the problem with the OS for most people (imo) is that it doesn't function like Windows. I assume people going OS X > Windows have the same issue.
It's cool that the guy is getting recognition for his good work, but it seems they just throw knighthoods around nowadays.
I've dropped my iPod countless times onto granite and my laminated floor, and I only have minor scratches on it.
Also if you don't like them why have you memorized the exact specifications of it's design.
I think he was being satirical about the apple copyright claims, still a shit post though
Knighthood well earned, in my opinion. Apple's designs in the last 10 or so years have moved the world into a new direction - some people may like to argue the wrong direction, but definitely defining of our era.
I don't think it's possible to argue educatedly against that.
See, now that Jobs is dead, apple seems more friendly, though they still keep suing. Maybe once they stop being dicks, I will buy from them
