Every champ is pretty much equal, it's down to whom you're good at or like to play whether you unlock them or not. Newer champs are more expensive to help generate money and to make sure you don't see Zed every other game, as well as generally requiring more in-depth knowledge of the game; but a fed Garen is just as powerful as a fed Skarner, despite the latter being about fifteen times the price in IP.
I recently started playing dota 2 because I was bored of tf2 and the game is quite addicting, however I hate how some heroes are really shit compared to others and there's also that moment where your hero is picked by an idiot and you feel like you wanna punch him in the face.
I personally love that the game isn't pay to win like league of legends.
LoL is in no way Pay 2 Win, the fuck are you on
they just have a broken system that revolves around these stupid little ~innovative~ mechanics like summoner spells and runes
you cant even buy runes with IRL money
Because the "US citizen" status automatically makes you a good, communicative player, right?
It makes you good at communication, which generally means you'll win the game as long as you're well coordinated.

So, that's only true for US Citizens now? What about rogue/stupid/introverted US players? What about the non-us players that simply play the game without saying a word about their nationality?
This "e-xenophobism" is bullshit.
Because it is an RTS with just one unit?
to be honest I find it closer to a faster paced ARPG
really the only thing you unlock by leveling up are rune slots and masteries, which can help boost your character slightly, but someone using no runes and masteries can easily outplay people with full rune pages and level 30 masteries.
and you pick who you unlock through ingame currency you get for playing the game, they're all good in their own way, and all have counters and champs they can wipe the floor with
Sure as long as the skill differences are fairly high between the two. But overall runes play an absolutely massive deal in the early game where a few % one way or another has massive impact.

I disagree .I'm not entirely knowledgeable of league of legends but here goes. Having a more diverse hero pool makes a massive difference . For example in dota 2 if the opposition has a lot of illusion based heroes there are only a few good counters . One of the best being earthshaker . If you couldn't pick a earthshaker in certain situations you would be at a disadvantage . Anyone who had purchased RP could use them in that situation and therefore stand a much better chance.
TL:DR Having more options than another player is in itself imbalance.
Also im aware you unlock heroes by playing as well.
I might pick this up again soon. I got tired of League because it's just frustrating to me now. The bots on Dota 2 were at least challenging enough to me to be fun so I don't have to deal with people.
I still don't really care unfortunately.
It looks really well made, but I just can't seem to get interested in the genre, even though I am a massive Valve fanboy.
All it took me was to set the options right, and just jump right in. Starting with dozens of bot matches, and a couple hundred normal matches, and I then got into the genre of Dota with little prior experience quite easily.
