Uhhh, but what about the platform you designed it on?
The infantry-focused add-on will expand the online mode with four new maps and ten more weapons.
Assuming they started working on it after the release of SaK, that is 6 monthes it's taking to include four maps, and just ten weapons? Bullshit.
Wheres Close Quarters will focus on tight infantry battles
Great, more Metro spam bullshit.
biggest maps DICE has ever created... for a very Battlefield experience.
If they make it the size of a Project reality map, I'll download/buy it.
"biggest map dice ever made" FUCKING YES!
Those should be fun on those consoles, you know, with 24 max players. That's where good ol' PC is going to rule supreme. What good is a huge map if it can't be populated
Pretty excited for Armored Kill and maybe End Game
I want newly made maps not maps taken from their other games
I'd agree with this for any game but BF2. It's maps were just so damn good. If they could do what they did with Oman and Karkand with other BF2 maps I'll spread my wallet invitingly wide open.
The thing with all old BF2 maps is that while they are large with open landscapes they always have some CQC-inducing scenery around certain flags or chokepoints, so you'll always get a taste of that too. This is the main reason I don't think dedicated close-quarter maps are necessary for BF3.
Think of them as expansions. I can't remember anyone complaining about 1942 expansion packs.
Yeah, DLC is just replacing the old term of expansion now. BF2 had three expansions, so why can't BF3 have it's DLC?
I was hoping it'd be sooner but if it's as good as B2K was then I got no problem waiting till June.
I hope this "Armored Kill" DLC pack will include a dogfight mode / map. That'd be the shit.
hahaha
I remember a jets only conquest map in the BF2 mod AIX2.0
it was fucking epic, 64 player jet battles with enhanced jet maneuverability, Mirage IIIs, harriers, F16s, crazy shit.
also it had this central cap you could spawn on filled with static AA and attack helicopters (usually would get raped but pretty funny to troll with)
seriously though, when they say this is the largest map ever made, it's bullshit
they could have made much better maps, the community probably always has made the biggest maps in the BF2 editor.
Something just gives me this odd feeling that these expansions are actually remakes of the BF2 Expansions.
Armored Fury = Armored Kill/Possibly some reinvisions of BF1942 maps[Aka: DICE if you are reading this... El Alamein.]
Close Quarters = Combination of Special Forces/Euro Forces
End Game = Sounds like the All American DLC which was being discussed awhile ago... That or it's possibly DICE's code-word for BF2143.
Secret weapons of WWII was pretty dumb, pretty gimmicky and it dident play well.
that is BULL-SHIT
jetpacks were so much fucking fun
manually guided AA missiles? epic.
all the absolutely crazy shit was awesome.

SF was so much more than CQC, it was fancy new guns and devices (tear gas, flashbangs, etc) and ziplines and grappling hooks
can't forget about the zipline.

DLC can be anything from maps to a new weapon.
Todd Howard said that Skyrim's DLC will be more like "the old expansions", bigger than that of Fallout 3 and New Vegas' downloadable content.

That's because the community can be as exlusionary as they want to be so it has no constraints. Want to make a massive map? Make it, then just tell other people to shove off when they can't run it, DICE has to balance what they make with accessibility to as many people as possible.
[editline]7th March 2012[/editline]
Its really the same with any game with mod tools. The community will always be pushing it since they don't have to make accessible to make a profit.
This better not be Kamarov's mansion, BFBC2 already pulled this shit of the map packs being the same map but in a different mode but hopefully DICE have learned from that.
There's kind of a big difference between a "mansion" and a "penthouse suite".
Keep the quality, and you'll get my money.
I rather have expansion packs than a new battlefield every year.

I heard it be used all the time.
and secret weapons was amazing fuck you :v:

The difference is that Special Forces was an entirely new concept and came with (6?) maps and loads of new weapons and gadgets. Euroforce gave an entirely new Faction, and ok Armoured Fury was a bit lacking in the content department but still, in the final patch they gave away both the booster packs free.
B2K gave 4 new maps, a few new weapons and a few vehicles. People have let EA abuse their customers in just about every way. The only time the community stamped their feet down was when the pre-order weapon pack was announced.
Don't get me wrong, BF3 is a fun game, but the way EA tries to get money out of us at every turn sickens me.
Only thing that bothers me about these dlcs is that they haven't even completely removed most major game breaking bugs and balance issues, yet dice is making more content.

What? You think all of DICE worked on it?

The second DLC is meant to contain the biggest maps they've ever created, so straight remakes wouldn't fulfil that requirement, would they?
One concern is server fragmentation with this amount of DLC. At least Close Quarters is offering new weapons, if anything like B2K, will allow you to play with them on vanilla servers.
Fuck close quarters. All of the close quarter maps in BF3 are shit (Im looking at you, Tehran Highway!)

You do realize that B2K was only half the price that for example Special Forces was, right? Were you expecting the same amount of content from half the price?

But Metro is some occasional guilty fun.

Maps take a while to make and the weapons are optional to me. I'm happy with the current weapons.
Goddamnit I've yet to buy the first one...
Hope the last one also gives more weapons and maps. I love it how they keep including new weapons in them.
Close Quaters Pack?
Give it up DICE. Your Metro, Seine Crossing, and Bazaar maps are pieces of shit and should have never existed in the first place. Stop trying to attract CoD players.
I'm okay with the other pack though.
I don't understand the people commenting on bf3's forums. They are all saying how much they hate them for making a close quarters map and not fixing the game.
Personally I need they need to grow up and think. They have only announced about this and they are far apart I can imagine they will fix the game before these are out.
Just because they want to make a close quarters map does not mean it is cod I really don't understand these people. It is fun no mater what as long as you are on a server that has rules against the explosives spam.
They are going to make a huge map for vehicles and that confuses me even more why people are complaining that sounds really fun.
And to top it all off we don't even know what the end game is yet.
Edit -------
The guy who posted above me is an example of people complaining over nothing.

As if a few close quarters maps are gonna hurt anyone...

You mean that you take no pleasure at all in eviscerating an entire room of soldiers with an overpressure Russian SMG?
No he'd rather sit in a bush miles away taking potshots at your tank with his sniper rifle.
No he'd rather sit in a bush miles away taking potshots at your tank with his sniper rifle.
I like the idea of being able to damage a tank with a sniper round. But what you say counters that especially when you have a team of snipers doing it.
Best way around that is to cap it so it only does little to no damage on an enemy vehicle at long ranges where an enemy vehicle would find it hard to get you.
Sorry for expecting Battlefield maps in a Battlefield DLC
I wouldn't be so pissy about it if they hadn't gipped us by using CoD maps for half the maps in the actual, vanilla game.

Because a close-quarters map totally isn't Battlefield as much as a large map is.
