Battlefield 3 DLC resumes in June; three packs announced
I duno about you guys, but I think Metro is one of my favorite maps in BF3. It's probably because I get a fuckton of points when I'm on the right team. But I think BF3 has some really great close quarter stuff
I think the close-quarters combat in BF3 is excellent, in particular compared to previous titles in the series. It's just not what I'm looking for primarily in Battlefield.
I also think it's a bit sad that playing metro/bazaar has become the de-facto best way to rack up points. It's all the dying I suppose, but it almost makes me wish the game had ways to compensate to make playing open-landscape maps more rewarding point-wise.
I don't think the first map pack should be close quarters, because in the normal game most maps are close. There's only like 3-4 large scale isn't there?
Don't let BF hardcore players hear you saying you like Metro, or they'll call you cod fanboys or whatever.
I like metro above every other map aswell. The way it turns into a territorial fight is really cool and instead of roaming the map for 5 minutes sometimes to end up dying because of someone elsewhere, you have to look every way not to die. The only thing I hate is M320 nade spam. You can't even get up the escalators because your health starts going down as soon as you get mid way up them.
Otherwise, the map I hate the most is Operation Firestorm. I never seem to do any good in it, dying in every way. Every other map, I might do good, but on Operation Firestorm? Nope.

Tbh Metro is good when rules disable explosives.
64 people in the infantry-only map is probably gonna be quite something like Operation Metro

Metro is cool with 16 or 24 players. Any more and it'll be a giant shitstorm of bullets and explosives.
That might have something to do with that BF3 DLC is far bigger than CoD DLC and is actually worth the price tag.
they're like the same size. one less map and several new guns. none are even close to worth $15
Uhhh, but what about the platform you designed it on?
Assuming they started working on it after the release of SaK, that is 6 monthes it's taking to include four maps, and just ten weapons? Bullshit.
Great, more Metro spam bullshit.
If they make it the size of a Project reality map, I'll download/buy it.
Well hi there Forstbite 2 expert! Clearly you know more about creating content for the engine than the god damn designers! The platform any game is "designed" on is always the PC, that doesn't mean it will get special treatment, and you shouldn't expect it. In the exact same way I don't expect special treatment for the games I do buy on my PS3, it's just nice to receive on occasion (BF3 gets it anyway in added features to the base game).
If they have been working on these maps from scratch, 6 months sounds pretty fucking reasonable to me. It can take months to create a map, going through the design, blocking out, detailing, playtesting and bugfixing stages. And that's just for one map. 4 is quite a bit of work in 6 months, especially with weapon balance testing being added in as well.
If all you are going to do is complain when they do offer us new content, why the fuck are you bothering to play the game or read the news releases? And don't expect a map the size of a PR map, Frostbite is a fuckton more complex than the BF2 engine, it requires more resources by far meaning it will have slightly stricter limits. Unless you enjoy looking at bland hills and flat buildings, the resources for massive-massive maps aren't going to be available.
I can't remember, but can you pick the kits with expansion guns up from dead players? If not that's kind of shit, and probably has an awful workaround.
Im not to sure why everyone is complaining about all the close quarters maps, playing for example Sharqi Peninsula on Rush, then Team Deathmatch then full out Conquest has a sort of mission thing about it. Kinda like investigation, attempt at a take over then a full out assault...
Its fun in its own little way.
Its like on Caspian(?) border, Team Deathmatch is like a set of guys was sent in to have a look, get attacked etc etc. I think its fun anyway.

Yeah, DLC is just replacing the old term of expansion now. BF2 had three expansions, so why can't BF3 have it's DLC?
Beat me to it - and if DICE follows their trend, they'll get released for free once they're no longer profitable (although admittedly this is far less likely with the business strategies we see today).
they're like the same size. one less map and several new guns. none are even close to worth $15
Uh, assuming the game is worth 60bucks (Here in Australia anyway). Thats 9 maps and ~80 weapons (I think). Thats 2.25 maps and ~20 weapons per 15 dollars. So, 4 maps and 10 weapons is a good compromise. (Maths says if a weapon is worth 50 cents, and a map 2.50.)
You'd pay 2.50 for a map. You'd definitely pay 50cents for a weapon.
Tbh Metro is good when rules disable explosives.
If you have to disable a large part of the game for a map to be worth playing, then the map was a complete failure and doesn't suit BF's style of gameplay.
Please god damn add some BC maps. Ascension, harvest day, PLEASE!
Am i the only one getting tired by all these DLC crap?
Honestly, I was skeptical when I got Karkand, but honestly that shit is fucking worth it. I have never had that much fun in an online FPS. Fucking F35s blowing shit up everywhere and every motherfucker has a helicopter or tank.
I want a DLC/expansion similar to the BC2 Vietnam thing.
But with a war scenario that hasn't been made into 100s of games. I am personally thinking Falklands, WW2 Russian/German front, French resistance in Nazi-occupied France, or another future-theme Battlefield.

I fucking hate it when everyone whips out the M320 on it.

You can, I remember getting some guy's MG36 before I got karkand.
hahaha
I remember a jets only conquest map in the BF2 mod AIX2.0
it was fucking epic, 64 player jet battles with enhanced jet maneuverability, Mirage IIIs, harriers, F16s, crazy shit.
also it had this central cap you could spawn on filled with static AA and attack helicopters (usually would get raped but pretty funny to troll with)
seriously though, when they say this is the largest map ever made, it's bullshit
they could have made much better maps, the community probably always has made the biggest maps in the BF2 editor.
I just played that map today, and yes it's great. I wish AIX had more people playing it though.
End Game = Next Battlefield
Oh god no, close quarters, you know what that means. Frag rounds, frag rounds everywhere!
Why can't it be that Dinosaur DLC

Just do BF 2143.
Falklands
BF2 AIX2.0 Goose Green is a map!
WW2 Russian/German front
LOLWUT
that shit is overdone
RO1, RO2, W@W, etc, etc, etcccccc
French resistance in Nazi-occupied France
wouldn't really fit the usual battlefield of 2 regular armies fighting each other
another future-theme Battlefield.
fuck yea
I just played that map today, and yes it's great. I wish AIX had more people playing it though.
yeah, it's so much fun.
it's not meant for PvP (since jets rape everything), so it's basically get the stinger kit or die.
Though admittedly getting 2 buddies with stingers, an engy, and a support as pilot in a blackhawk was fucking epic
we raped everything, jets, tanks, other helis
until harrier brings it's LAG CANNON OF DOOM onto us, then we just assploded.
Oh god no, close quarters, you know what that means. Frag rounds, frag rounds everywhere!
Frag rounds really aren't that great when compared to buckshot.

Depends on the shotgun you're using.
