I will never consider this to exist
The gameplay better play like a normal Elder Scrolls game, and not those hotkeys point/click MMOs.
That would become incredibly boring if it was just the elder scrolls gameplay. Generic hits with weapons and some spells would get pretty boring. It should be Elder scrolls combat with the first person or third person if you want, using swords and shields and staffs and all that like it is in the games, THEN use hot keys for special abilitys or spells.
ZeniMax Online is founded by Bethesda though.
ZeniMax owns Bethesda.
ZeniMax Online is founded by Bethesda though.
Yeah but when this mmo is released, if it is terrible and noone plays it Bethesda will probably then cancel Zenimax Online and continue to make single player TES games
Let's hope it crashes and burns. If it's successful well... Look at what happened to the Warcraft franchise.
I'm thinking about why they are doing this. I mean, TES V Skyrim co-op would have a huge positive impact on their sales. THAT would be fucking neat but a MMO that (from the sounds of it) looks like a pretty generic WoW MMO... Uh.. right
Is this game's combat just like SW:TOR and WoW? I'm seriously tired of the same old point and click MMO. I can't play any of them now, because they feel like the same grind I've been forced to do since the Runescape days.
I've dreamed of an Elder Scrolls Online game. But if it plays like a traditional MMORPG then I'm not buy it. Everquest, WoW and Guild Wars have already done the concept to death.
I absolutely hate trailers like this. OH WOW A PRERENDERED ANIMATED LOGO HOW FUCKING EXCITING
This is why I liked the Guild Wars 2 trailer, because it catches you offguard with the pre rendered 2D images before suddenly switching to actual ingame footage. For all the stuff this MMO is copying off GW2 it's a bloody shame they didn't copy the trailer.
Bleh, I do not want to see TES as an MMO. Most MMOs are traditional and overdone, that's why I like Guild Wars 2 so much.
If it's successful well... Look at what happened to the Warcraft franchise.
You mean not a single game in the franchise other than a WoW expansion for 8 years?
I haven't found a single person who actually wanted this. That alone says a lot.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=472749 Neogaf thread with all the details.
I hate how hardly any MMOs have things like player housing. SWG did housing really nicely. It's like all the new MMOs only care about Combat or Combat-related things.
This has such potential. I hold some hope that this won't be the new TORtanic.
This has such potential. I hold some hope that this won't be the new TORtanic.
it looks like it will...
This has such potential. I hold some hope that this won't be the new TORtanic.
TORtanic 2: TEStanic
Then you obviously haven't looked anywhere outside this thread, there were a few people that like it in the elder scrolls online thread in the sensationalist news forum.
Well I haven't exactly been looking very hard for people who like the idea, that's true. Because that would be sad and I have better things I could be doing. But from two FP threads, various comments on other sites plus people I know in real life there's been very few people expressing love for a TES MMO. So I'd say that it does say a lot about the general consensus over the idea when a majority of people appear to be against it.
I am confused are you implying these are from the game Because I'm totes sure these aren't if that's what's going on
enjoy
why they didn't start a lemonade stand or do shoe shining? i mean you would have to be really desperate for money to make something stupid like this
Can't even tell who they're trying to appeal to with this, good luck competing with Guild Wars, TERA, or WoW. Fuck even the people who only somewhat care about the series will ignore it seeing as it won't even be like Skyrim or Oblivion.
Looks incredible generic MMO game again.
enjoy
"The Elder Scrolls", folks.
Is that faction list real Oh my god Argonians and Dunmer You know, no big deal, just enslaved you lizard folks for hundreds of years, and then you lizard guys invaded our homeland for that, we can forgive that. Oh yeah, and you Nords have been having a racial feud with us for almost as long, but it's okay because who actually cares about our game's story
It takes place about eight hundred years before any of that happened you know
So it looks like Zenimax has given up pretenses of caring about their IP and are gearing up for full milking now. Awesome, last good fantasy world has been properly put to death.
Could you not tell from the consolitas that started with Oblivion and only got worse with Skyrim?
Could you not tell from the consolitas that started with Oblivion and only got worse with Skyrim?
Oblivion was an amazing game and so was Skyrim.
Oblivion was more fun than Morrowind in gameplay, Skyrim was more fun than Oblivion, but neither Oblivion or Skyrim had good story at all. Oblivion was "oh no a big demon" and Skyrim was "oh no dragons for no reason, be epic win to succeed". Compare it to any other villains from the other games and TES is just becoming another series where the impeccable lore is just a springboard for the gameplay, rather than the other way around which it should be. The point I'm making is there's ten goddamn thousand medieval games with fun gameplay that I can play, but there's what, 3 series' left with an atmosphere I am legitimately interested in and Bethesda's degrading it to another "woosh so cool look at the dragons etc" series. ~Imo~~

Because that might explain the decline in story quality (although I still love Skyrim more than Oblivion or Morrowind.).
ZeniMax owns Bethesda.
ZeniMax owns Bethesda but since ZeniMax is founded by Bethesda, people that are in charge of Bethesda are also in charge of ZeniMax.
What bugs me is the art style. TES series usually had pseudo-realistic gritty but still colorful style. This goes all out and looks like a god damn rainbow. Even the characters are wearing bright colored clothes and armor that is something I haven't seen in any TES. You're supposed to use color for nature and sky, not for character clothing. It just doesn't look right to me. Even the more magical creatures didn't seem to glow rainbows out of their ass.
You can already tell this is going to crash and burn before it even gets off the ground. I don't think there's anything to worry about. IMO it will be released, there'll be a bit of a wave of curiosity and then it will die rather quickly - It's the first Elder Scrolls Multiplayer game and people will judge it fairly critically and as it looks now, it definitely won't measure up to people's expectations and I expect a lot of die hard fans won't even bother investing in it. Oh, that and Elder Scrolls is judged on the measure of its lore, storyline and immersive world and from what I've read on that source, the plot sounds awful - [sp]If the starting plot is that you are fighting with Molag Bal for your soul then surely that means that most characters in the world are doing the same which means that essentially the entirety of Nirn have some sort of unholy pact with Molag Bal which makes no sense. [/sp]
