The Elder Scrolls universe is not nearly interesting enough to be an MMO [editline]5th May 2012[/editline] I mean it is pretty interesting for a single player game, but you'll notice that the best parts of the game were in dialogue Dialogue doesn't work well in MMOs

Yeah, the new games have really pissed on the universe, but seriously, play Morrowind. It's got fucking everything. There's multiple religions, moral grays, political intrigue that's interesting, and the island you are on is diverse and rocks like hell - barren ashlands filled with Dark Elf tribals, the eastern coast slowly being dominated by the hyper-rich and hyper-racist Telvanni growing living mushroom-houses over it, the imperial legion trying to make sense of the massive cultural variety (bootlicking hlaalu, noble/warrior redoran, and asshole slaver telvanni). And that's not even going into the animals, books, encounters, ruins, towns and myths. One town is made out of the shell of a giant land-crab How could you look at this and this and say TES has a subpar universe
Oh lovely, they're deliberately keeping some provinces inaccessible so they can throw it in as an expansion later. Could they not give us a full game and then bring in Akavir or something as an expansion?
I wonder if we will see alive Dwemers, or are they still dead in that time period?
I wonder if we will see alive Dwemers, or are they still dead in that time period?
It depends what you mean by "alive". The Dwemer mysteriously vanished during the battle of Red Mountain in 1E 700, and the events of Morrowind are in about 3E 427, so that's like, 1-2 thousand years from MW alone. Unfortunately it seems the game's only "about a thousand years" prior to the events of skyrim. Since they're having Jagar Tharn in it, the game'll be set it like, 3E 389, and since skyrim's in 4E 201 that makes sense to the "one thousand years thing". But you'll be able to see Yagrum Bagarn, the last of the Dwemer C:
Seriously, is this like a really, really late April Fools joke?
The gameplay better play like a normal Elder Scrolls game, and not those hotkeys point/click MMOs.
Been confirmed for wow clone.
What is the point of this game? Nothing stands out from other MMO's, and I don't think anyone actually wanted an Elder Scrolls MMO, people just wanted coop.
The screenshots do not look like TES. It just doesn't.
We as a community have been asking for co-op in TES games since Morrowind at least, it's the most blatantly obvious feature to add, just let us play Skyrim with our friends. It's really simple. And then we get this. What the fuck bethesda?

I'd rather play Skyrim with 4-5 friends on lan.
So basically it's a generic MMO with TES slapped onto it

Just add Co-op to Skyrim and everyone will be happy.
4 week old thread fuck thought it was a new trailer for E3.
I haven't found a single person who actually wanted this. That alone says a lot.
I want a TES MMO, just not this kind of MMO.
So it looks like Zenimax has given up pretenses of caring about their IP and are gearing up for full milking now. Awesome, last good fantasy world has been properly put to death.
Meanwhile at Zenimax...
It's not even TES. It looks nothing like TES. Apart from the races, nothing I've seen so far has anything TES related about it. It's just another generic MMO. They even flatout admitted that it is going to be a hotkey grind fest.
Specifically so many mentions of WoW. WoW's a pretty decent example of a hotkey based MMO, it does a lot of things right, but I don't want it to be the template for an Elder Scrolls MMO.
I like ZeniMax...
WoW's a pretty decent example of a hotkey based MMO, it does a lot of things right, but I don't want it to be the template for an Elder Scrolls MMO.
There's no creativity to the genre if most developers are trying to make their games play exactly like World of Warcraft.
Yeah the problem with the MMORPG genre is that unlike every other genre, developers have only been evolving the visuals and not the gameplay. I can play a new MMO with good graphics like Rift but I feel like I'm playing an old game.
