Welp, I know where my summer job money is going Who needs gas anyway when you can play on a GTX 690?
Just install your GeForce GTX 690 in your car and it should be able to run on any road.
The 8800GT was extremely expensive and really smashed ATI's current cards IIRC. The gap doesn't seem so big this time. That's a normal performance increase since the 7970 is out for nearly four months now.
The 8800GT was specifically made to have the best value.
Shiiiit, that's expensive. Could this possibly cause a price reduction in other high-end cards?
470 Euro in Holland
Shiiiit, that's expensive. Could this possibly cause a price reduction in other high-end cards?
You mean the ATI ones with the buggy drivers? I guess it'll decrease the prices of the other Nvidia cards
Oh man this GPU looks cooler than my case.
This card isn't much more powerful than the Radeon 7970, especially if you do overclocking. The 7970's stock frequencies are very low compared to what it's capable of.
This demo is optimized for Nvidia anyways. No real game, even those "The way it's meant to be played" games will get performance like that. This is basically no different than synthetic benchmarks which server no purpose other than to jerk off to their results.
I got my 550 Ti only a month ago. I figured this would happen eventually, jut not so soon.
Sold out everywhere.
I'm gonna hold out on this one until my gtx260 begs to die. If newer games are well optimized, it will take a while until it gives up on me.
Bought my 580 about a year and a half ago, I'll probably get this around christmas next year, hopefully when the price has dropped a bit. Seems like a kick-ass card. [editline]22nd March 2012[/editline]
Ever since I got my 5850 when it released, there really hasn't been a game that's pushed it to the point where I thought "damn, I wish I had a new card". Games seem to have stagnated while GPUs are getting improved far too quickly.
This is pretty much where I am, I have yet to find a game that doesn't put me below 30fps maxed out (although battlefield 3 does occasionally dip into the 20s). I'm hoping that the advent of the new consoles will set a new precedent for graphics.
I know what I want for christmas
Ok, I'm getting sick of this retarded monetary conversion bullshit, one dollar is not one euro, why the hell should I pay 500€ for it here (that's the price here) when in the US it's $500 = 379€, meaning I'm actually paying $659 for a $500 product if I decide to buy it.

Money has different value despite being the same amount in different countries. There are different wages, different taxes, different anything. There is a reason why you get a lot of stuff REALLY cheap in Russia.
now, can they make it cheaper?
195 Watts?! Want
Oh cmon i just got a 490 3 months ago.
Why do people genuinely want this? Most modern games can be played on high to max settings on midrange hardware. It's currently just an excessive piece of hardware IMO.
It's a good option for those who want to upgrade from an old/modest computer config. Also, since it's very efficient in it's power consumption, it's also a good option for SLi and consequently multiple monitors + 3D gaming.
ive seen preorders for $1300 lol
Yeah, but it's a preorder price, here it'll cost like $900+ for atleast some months after the release, then the price will get lower slowly.
now give me passively cooled variant ;) for half the price and we got deal :)
I'm gonna pitch for a 670 when i can, i currently have a 570 that is on it's deathbed right now, and it was really good, maybe i could get a pair of 660s and run them in SLI for equal performance to a 680 for less than the cost of it.
I'll be waiting for the 780. Purchased a 580 last year so I don't think there's much point in an upgrade.
but i just got a 6970...
9600 up in this bitch
Why do people genuinely want this? Most modern games can be played on high to max settings on midrange hardware. It's currently just an excessive piece of hardware IMO.
This is actually one thing I've wondered about. A lot of low-range to entry-midrange kind of hardware, cannot run some of the more demanding games today. I've wondered why engine designers and programmers doesn't make sure that their engines run on anything. It's not like it's difficult to archive. Just time-consuming, but that could be me.
Is that a greybeard playing skyim at 2:36
There is a reason why you get a lot of stuff REALLY cheap in Russia.
I agree, but not GPUs. I bought my 580 for $600 in USD. After a year it was released.
Why do people genuinely want this? Most modern games can be played on high to max settings on midrange hardware. It's currently just an excessive piece of hardware IMO.
The only reason I can think about is that the better your GPU, the prettier your game, regardless of your video settings. For example the new FPS friendly yet effective anti aliasing they have is something you set up on the card's settings, not ingame, which makes it available everywhere. Basically it will make today's beautiful games even more beautiful, beyond their own settings.

[sp]aka because this would be a huge leap from my 4670[/sp] (User was banned for this post ("Image macro.
Whats the length of this thing? Doesn't even look like it'll fit in my case.
about 25 cm or about 10 inches. It's amazing how little power it needs for having the same computing power as three 580GTXs.
