about 25 cm or about 10 inches.
It's amazing how little power it needs for having the same computing power as three 580GTXs.
It doesn't have the computing power of 3 580s, read the benchmarks. Epic just said that to make dumb people think it was some insanely fast but cheap gpu when really it's not much better than what we already have, it just uses way less power.
One 680 already 3/2 more expensive than my current laptop :v:

I said it wrong.
It have the same amount of cores as three 580GTXs which does not mean the same as graphical computing power.

What a terrible laptop
So when do we expect that thing to hit the market?

Yesterday. It's already sold out everywhere.
Awesome! I'm talking to my dad about us building a new PC. Having something like this would be absolutely killer. Are these SLI compatible? I'd love to be running two of these monsters.

I would imagine so, but it would be just a tad bit overkill wouldn't ye think?
I would imagine so, but it would be just a tad bit overkill wouldn't ye think?
Yeah, but back in 2006 we literally made our own top of the line rig. Pretty much the best parts we could get ahold of. Since the thing finally died we've been looking to do it again. Yes, I do agree that $1000 in graphics cards would be overkill, but thats the idea.
Ain't no kill like overkill.

Yeah, they're SLI compatible. The guy mentioned it in the video thing from nvidia.
so nvidia made an awesome power-saving yet very efficient power gpu
it's very wishful thinking on my part but i hope one day they'll also add "money-friendly" to that list :v:
(like how popular the mid-high end of the 8 series was a few years ago — i know some friends who still are on 8800GTs)
I wanna see the 660 come out.
Maybe they can name the Ti the 666 instead of having multiple "660s".

TigerDirect has some Galaxy 680's.

As long as you're doing an investment like that then it's worth it.
Buying a lot of expensive shit or relatively expensive shit just to change it all out in 2 years is a waste of money.

Pfft. This is Nvidia.
GL - GS - GT - GTS - GTX
Remember those? And just to be nice they also slapped ULTRA next to the GT and GTX if they had overclocked them a bit.

I'd say the best bet for you money is a 560 or 560ti
or some ATI cards

GTS comes before GT.
Unless my old, now out of commission 8800GTS really was "the best" at the time, which I seriously doubt.

Didn't really put them in a specific order.
Didn't really put them in a specific order.
Well you managed to get them spot on except for the GTS one.
And I just bought a 7970 2 months ago.
Fuck.

I saw that but is Galaxy even a very good brand? I've never had them or heard much about them so I don't know.
I would imagine so, but it would be just a tad bit overkill wouldn't ye think?
Not unless you're doing high end 1080p 120hz gaming, 3D gaming or running at an absurdly high resolution.

Well if you aren't doing that then you aren't really gaming now are you :P

From what I understand they are as big as Evga, but not in the US. I would trust galaxy as much as any other company.
Why do people genuinely want this? Most modern games can be played on high to max settings on midrange hardware. It's currently just an excessive piece of hardware IMO.
Mostly people who haven't upgraded in years or people without gaming rigs want to build a new one?
That's one zero away from my card. (6800)
Yeah, I hate it. :smith:

Good old days of "Holy shit! It plays Half-Life 2: Lost Coast smoothly! IT'S BEAUTIFUL!"
Hopefully the 680 won't have wooden screws.

Ha! I'm still on my 9500 GT!
I have a 6850 and I can max out anything that I have tried so far, I dont really see the need for these real high end cards because consoles sorta stop progress.

at 640x480 maybe. Funny how my 6870 can't max out BF3, GTA IV or even Crysis 2 but your lower end card can.

Blame AMD's shitty drivers.
