(Seriously, for a cop, Sebastian gets winded far too easily. Must be a smoker.)
did they even play the game? within the first 5-10 mins of the game the dude basically takes out a pack of cigs only to crumple it up because it's empty shit man, thought I was nit picking, but these people are the worst.
There is no Dark Souls-esque feeling of victory when you finally defeat a boss
... What? I knew Joystiq was dumb, but this... This game isn't Dark Souls, okay? It's the spiritual successor to Resident Evil. You don't feel victory, you feel relief.
“Where BioShock Infinite aggressively tugged on heartstrings, The Evil Within tears them from your chest and crucifies you. It strangles you with your own tendrils and feeds you your own beating heart, mouth locked shut and tied with entrails, forcing you to chew and swallow. But when the last sliver slides down the back of your throat, you’ll look up and smile a sadistic smile before asking “more, please”.”
what the fuck Not sure if satire or reviews for prepubescents
So AusGamers is the creepy goth kid at the back of the class. Kinda glad I didn't buy this game yet, it's too bad they made the aspect ratio such a big part of the experience. I'm sure if they asked fans they all would have said get rid of the bars but now the game is out and I doubt they will patch it to make them optional.
Bethesda released a bunch of console commands that takes abiut twenty seconds to fix the game, fortunately.
I read that the aspect ratio console command just zooms the screen in, sacrificing a lot of your view in order to remove the bars (this is the worst way possible to remove aspect ratio bars). I didn't really read how the 60fps support is, I just know the game is poorly optimized compared to games on the same engine. Also you supposedly have to enter all these commands every time you start the game.

Only thing is some of the screen effects get a bit messed up.
I've been playing on PS4 for a while now, up to chapter 5. This isn't a bad game by any means. It's fun, it's tense, and it's difficult as hell if you're not smart about your resources. Even then, when you have no ammo for anything, you can still take out enemies with well placed matches on a stack of hay or even a dead body. The only problems I've noticed with the game are the frame drops and the black bars being irritating for a while. Luckily, as long as you aren't playing on a tiny TV, the black bars are easy to get used to. I'd give it a solid 8. People are way too whiny about insignificant shit, or they're rating the game poorly because of the PC port.
I personally didn't like the game at all. I can see it takes some ideas from RE(a lot of them) but does them half assedly and not very fun. All characters are boring. The friendly ones/player are flat and uninteresting. The enemies look generic and unimaginative and act on par. The game is not scary. The first chapter kinda set the mood for silent hill+saw style of horror but right after that all that ends and turns into a sub par 3rd person adventure with shooting elements. Controls are not the worst but fairly sluggish which creates fake tension during some moments. Writing is also terribly boring. Dialogue is just stupid and main character's voice acting is very emotionless for the shit that's going on around him. Actual story so far is rather nonexistent at chapter 6. It's kinda like FEAR's Alma except it's a dude this time. As for PC port, performance is decent with drops here and there. But there's a fuckton of texture pop and that ungodly aspect ratio. You can't fix it, console commands to remove black bars reduce your fov to nothing. FPS cap one seems to work fine though, didn't notice any issues at 60fps lock.
