Sports don't have competition between each other though. You don't see people worried that Messi might start playing baseball. I think what he meant is that you don't see sports players actually advertising for other sports

pro gamers sounds way too unprofessional (and competitors sounds stupid what kind of idea is that), that's why i think we need a new term (or why we need to make it so that the definition of athlete encompasses pro gamers or chess players as well)
