I said this in another thread, but no sports players deserve the money they are 'earning'.
They are producing a value. Just because you don't enjoy sports doesn't mean that your opinion on the value of the players should dictate their pay. The fact of the matter is that they bring in millions of dollars in entertainment revenue. The money doesn't magically appear from thin air to be confiscated by the players at the expense of you or anyone else, people pay to watch sports because they enjoy them. All fields of entertainment include individuals who make truckloads of money. Two worst human emotions.
What happened to Game 1 of the Championship?
What happened to Game 1 of the Championship?
The winner from the Winner bracket gets a free win.
The people playing this tournament had already been playing DOTA for YEARS. This isn't a representation of the game for new players; it was a million dollar tourny. Since most if not all the gameplay aspects have been ported from the original, the only adjustment they had to make was for the new engine. Granted, DOTA is a hard game to get into, but they're not going to throw you straight into that level of play.
Exactly. This is one of the games that aren't exactly easy to learn, and it takes a humongous amount of effort to master it. I started playing Dota a while back, and while I got into it immediately and played it so much, some of my friends hasn't even learned some of the most basic things yet(such as last hitting). The better you get at the game, the better it simply feels to play it. Now that I'm watching this Dota 2 gameplay, I'm almost jumping in my seat because I'm so excited for it. It looks absolutely amazing, and it will be a fucking blessing to get away from League of Legends.
LoL and HoN was just something to keep me busy until Dota2 is here. Have you already opted in for the beta, Oblivion470?
Games like DOTA are some of the most absorbing games I've ever played. Once you get into them, you get completely hooked... I have more than a thousand games total (each one being 20-40 mins long on average) in LoL, and I still play every once in awhile. Lately though I've been playing more HoN; hopefully better preparing myself for the incredibly amazing experience that will be DOTA2
Is the original dota worth it compared to HoN, or is HoN a better way to get into Dota2?
Bitter and jealous. Two worst human emotions.
I'm not jealous at all. I am, maybe, a little bitter.
Is the original dota worth it compared to HoN, or is HoN a better way to get into Dota2?
DOTA2 will have heroes ported directly from DOTA, numbers and all. HoN has similar clones that function like DOTA heroes, but they have small differences in function and numbers. DOTA will obviously be more like DOTA2. It's personal preference really; all the basic DOTA gameplay aspects still exist in HoN. There are small differences and the heroes are obviously different. HoN is also still getting updates and is running on a newer engine [editline]21st August 2011[/editline] tl;dr playing DOTA will get you better prepared for DOTA2 but HoN is a tiny bit more original, has some original heroes and runs on a newer engine
Yeah, just installed HoN. Guess my time with LoL is over :v: Mind if I add you? (Really, if you mind, no problem)
No problem; my IGN is rilezfp.
Yeah, just installed HoN. Guess my time with LoL is over :v: Mind if I add you? (Really, if you mind, no problem)
Heh.. HahahahaHAHAHA. On a different note, lets go EHOME WOOP WOOP
I haven't kept up with the DOTA scene at all, so when I looked at the teams when the site opened, I have to say, I was a bit surprised to see no American team. Guess it's not that big in the States.
There were some Americans on the teams E-Sports in general aren't very big here
I did sign for the beta, but I don't have my hopes up. My goal is to get a high end computer before it comes out, I can barely run LoL at 30 fps anymore. I am wondering hard if the game will come out in 2011, I have been thinking that the whole time until I saw this article: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-18-newell-dota-2-wont-ship-until-2012
Well, yes, it won't ship until 2012. Especially knowing Valve.
get invited to the closed beta and play it until open beta comes. Then play open beta until the game gets released. IT'S THAT EASY
get invited to the closed beta and play it until open beta comes. Then play open beta until the game gets released. IT'S THAT EASY
It's that easy to be the lucky pick. By the way is there even a Dota 2 thread? I would expect people wanted to talk about it but I haven't found a dedicated Dota 2 thread.
This should suffice http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1013293-Dota-2-revealed
Thanks :)
I don't think reporting garry's post is such a good idea, guys.
Valve sure knows how to advertise DOTA 2.
