Software like this fucking sucks. My mom's computer had it, and of course I was blamed for it. They, instead of getting me to get rid of it (this wasn't the first time it had come up on their computer) reformatted their fucking hard drive.
Macs don't get viruses, this article sucks.
But mac people, you don't have viruses, why would you download a security program?
Although I do not condone the making of these programs, and loathe all the people that work on them;
Fuck you Mac users. Welcome to our world, too bad we've grown smart, and you're all as gullible as ever.

"Such programs, often called scareware, urge people to install software that then pretends to scan a machine for security problems. It then fabricates a list of threats it has found and asks for cash before it will fix these non-existent problems."
I'm pretty sure that was a joke.
I thought of that but I couldn't distinguish the sarcasm.

This will definatly cause a laugh among the Windows community. It was inevetable that OSX got some popular viruses/malware infecting its machines. Windows users are smart enough to deal with things like it where Mac users probably haven't had much experience.
"The program's tactic of peppering screens with pornographic pictures has made many keen to get rid of it."
gay
You mean those programs are NOT sources of free porn but infact viruses? Mkay.
"I will totally download this!"
If you're stupid enough to download and install this, you deserve the virus.

These things only get the dumbest Windows users really, but there are plenty of dumb Mac users to go around ("hurr durr no virus").
My granddad paid for a scareware program, I felt sorry for him :saddowns:
I don't feel sorry for any one of them.
And Apple's response is to deny the customer has any malware and say it's not their responsibility to refund or help you in the case of infection

Well it is their responsibility, I've never heard of HP or Dell fixing a virus ridden PC.

Doesn't stop it from being a dick move. I'm talking about them doing the bare minimum of telling the customer it's not a hardware issue instead of doing something to fix it
But hey, it's apple, no surprise here
Welp, there goes my mac sometime :ohdear:
So its like an Antivir Pro Solution for Macs?
Oh how fun.
Well it is their responsibility, I've never heard of HP or Dell fixing a virus ridden PC.
Well they do, but they'll just wipe the harddrive 100% clean and charge you 100$
Excluding stuff like shipping

My friend had it, most of the porn he got was gay.
Saving this news story and showing it to the smug applefag teacher at my college, this'll show 'em!

Why? It's just a trojan. All systems are susceptible to trojans. All you have to do is trick a user into running unknown software then it can do what it wants.
A real virus/infection/exploit doesn't require the user to install it themselves.
They only reason macs didn't have viruses was because no one gave a fuck.
It's funny how this requires you to enter an admin password to install. Unless you are really dumb you can't fall for this.

Apple fanboys are beyond reason. I gave up with my highschool teacher.
I wouldn't hate Macs so much if every single one of their customers weren't complete and total fucking idiots that have no idea what they're talking about.
Every time I bring something up about a computer a mac user who is not even a part of the conversation just has to show up and thrown in "MACS ARE BETTER BLAH BLAH BLAH BULLSHIT RANT"
That's great. I can do all that and more on my PC, now stop trying to make a fucking argument every time I bring up something about a computer program. You like Macs? Wonderful, now shut the fuck up about it and go away. Arrogant fucks.
So what I'm trying to say is, good, from my personal experiences most Mac users deserve this.
All computers are susceptible to reverse psychology viruses that try to get you to give the root password. Afaik, on Linux(Ubuntu at least), the user can't do that unless he unlocks the root account, thusly not doing much damange.
Woo, free porn
This is what you get for abusing your Unix roots.
