Unreal Engine 3. UDK is the free SDK.
Ah damn, sorry.
Ah damn, sorry.
Is all gewd. :3:
"Standalone game creation tool" "Dead" And the Source SDK is not user friendly, and has a horrible art creation pipeline which requires 3rd party tools in order to work.
Well, not really. Even third party tools use studiomdl and there's tools for other things like vtfs too.
too bad source doesnt run good on my machine
It'd be insane for them to not make this stand-alone.
I prefer Source really. Because you know for a fact more people can play the game because that was the intent and purpose of Source, a good engine that a lot of computers, including older ones, could play the games on.
wtf i had to buy a game to get it and now scrubs can get it for free? fuck u valve i demand a refund
wtf i had to buy a game to get it and now scrubs can get it for free? fuck u valve i demand a refund
Valve: :smugdog:
Does this mean that Garry's mod will now not require another game?
Does this mean that Garry's mod will now not require another game?
I think it might, just you are not going to have any items from other source games unless you buy em, HL2 props and textures come with every source game, so it should work.
Of course it was made with the UDK, you don't understand what I said, when UT3 came out it came with mod tools, those mod tools were a limited version of the UDK, it wasn't released as a full stand alone program until 2009.
Stop continuously proving you have no idea what you're talking about. UDK does not refer to the engine, it refers to this, furthermore UE3-powered games such as Unreal Tournament 3 have nothing to do with this either, they just come with a version of UnrealEd.
Well, not really. Even third party tools use studiomdl and there's tools for other things like vtfs too.
So you think having to use command line as opposed to a GUI made by a third party is a good idea?
Which is better, the UDK or Source SDK? (useful for source, artistic for UDK).
You have C++ access in the Source SDK, for the UDK you have a scripting language. The UDK is more powerfull on its own, but when it comes to source. you can do incredible stuff to engine like replace the physics engine with your own version adding your own renders etc. Also mod/plugin makers have been stuck with the 2007 engine version for a while now. its getting about time that they release the modern engine headers. And hopefully stop adding functions in the middle of interfaces breaking everything.
Of course it was made with the UDK, you don't understand what I said, when UT3 came out it came with mod tools, those mod tools were a limited version of the UDK, it wasn't released as a full stand alone program until 2009.
No UT3 was NOT made with UDK. It was made with Unreal Engine and full source code and unrealscript, but it was not udk.
SourceSDK, CryEngine3SDK, UDK. What's next? So, will the SourceSDK allows us to things like Valve's cinematic tools.
SourceSDK, CryEngine3SDK, UDK. What's next? So, will the SourceSDK allows us to things like Valve's cinematic tools.
No, we've had Source SDK since 2004 it's just that now you can get it without owning a Source game
No, we've had Source SDK since 2004 it's just that now you can get it without owning a Source game
Sad face (for no Source Filmmaker).
Sad face (for no Source Filmmaker).
There are...other ways.
ho-lee shit Valve is best company
ho-lee shit Valve is best company
as we all know, Valve is the first company to release an SDK for free
as we all know, Valve is the first company to release an SDK for free
Not to mention unlike other free sdks, this isn't even standalone.
So, will this make it easier for people to make games in source, and make money from it?
So, will this make it easier for people to make games in source, and make money from it?
nope
So, will this make it easier for people to make games in source, and make money from it?
How do you even get that from this?
SourceSDK, CryEngine3SDK, UDK. What's next? So, will the SourceSDK allows us to things like Valve's cinematic tools.
Difference is, with the CE3 SDK and UDK you can go commercial with it. This changes nothing except people don't have to buy any Valve game in order to get access to Source mods and the SDK.
