all this denial and misinformation spreading, though.

If you think its bad on the 2000, don't ever get a 3000.
Nah. Back when the PS3 encryption key fiasco was happening, someone got ahold of the PSP keys Sony used. So, I'm pretty sure all homebrew comes signed nowadays, which means you don't need a CFW to run, say, an emulator, but you do need a program to load CFW to access advanced features (like cheat programs for PSP games or plugins and stuff like that).
On topic, it's sad to see the PSP go. I had a PSP-1000 back in the day, and then one day while looking for it I found that one of the legs on my bed broke, sending the full force of the corner of my bed down onto the screen. Was completely unusable after that.
And yeah, they are incredible emulation machines. The emulators for the PSP were incredibly nice, and the full set of controls on the thing made it super useful for playing SNES/GBA/whatever games.
I remember when people were so excited for Kurok's development.
Then it died in late 2008.
The forum doesn't even exist anymore. It was put out of it's misery, nothing but spam and one group of idea guys wanting to reboot the project.
