Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare dev wants to see the series return to World War II
I think having a completely original world, a "strangereal" world if you will, would be pretty cool to see. Something like what Ace Combat has, have the weapons and ideas from the real world from all sort of different time lines are mashed together and put into a world that the developers themselves have created, this would also allow you to simply go wild with the more outrageous ideas that wouldn't exactly fit in a real world setting or a particular time period.
That's a great idea but its too much creativity for CoD's audience though, even Ace Combat ditched it so they can relate to them more which is sad.
A great vietnam game could work. I remember multiplayer matches in Battlefield: Vietnam. That shit was fucking fun as hell.
I could only imagine it in modern graphics.
DiCE already made that, over 4 years ago.
How about unrealistic WW2?
But Montain Dew and Doritos didn't exist back in WWII. How could it happen ?
Why not a Call of Duty that takes place in an extended WW2? Like, an FPS version of Silent Storm
i hope it has kevin spacey in it
I want a game where I am Kevin Spacey
I want an Anglo-Zanzibar War CoD. The campaigns last about that long anyway.
People always forget that Africa was a stage for WWII. I think Finest Hour had a small portion of Africa play (back on the PS2)
The British third of Call of Duty 2 had a lot of missions in Africa.
Pretty much another WW2 game or another Cold War era one would be perfect.
Medal of honor had tons of African campaigns
I really want another Vietnam/Cold War era CoD. Black Ops 1 was fuckin' top notch.
Why not just go "fuck it" and come up with a 100% fictional setting?
never thought I'd say this ... but if they make a ww1/2/vietnam cod I might actually buy it.
Korean war?
I don't want to go back to the endless counts of WW2 games like back in the day, I am thoroughly enjoying this future setting binge the industry seems to be getting into - that being said, I would like to see a return to WW2 for some franchises.
How about a Canadian point of view? Like the Italian Theatre?
Call of Duty 3.
I want more coldwar stuff.
Do a game in the mid 80's that has the Soviets breaking through the Brandenburg gate, and you're a sekrit agent doing spoopy stuff with 80's developmental weapons and junk
basically blackops but 20 years later.
What about a WW2 game through the perspective of an Axis soldier? I can't remember that ever being done, it would be a chance to tell a mature story. I recall a dev wanted to do it but was bullied by others in the industry to not make it.
Call of Duty 2 is still the best Call of Duty title.
I like the World War 2 games more, because the gunplay is more deliberate. In modern and future titles, every dang weapon is a bullet hose. As long as you're looking in their general direction, firing first means you win just because of how many bullets you're slugging at 'em. World War 2 games are different, though. The most common weapons are semi-automatic rifles, which are just more fun. There's a higher skill cap when you actually have to, like, aim.
over time people become more fond of WW2 shooters and pretend that they were all good, and similarly they decide that the most critically panned CoD games actually weren't that bad and actually really pretty much the highlights of the series right guys??
A CoD where America is invaded by Russians.
But you play as the Russians.

banned in australia, disparaged on fox news, still sells like hotcakes
call of duty: falklands
banned in argentina!
I'm so tired of the future bullshit, give me ww2 or vietnam pls.
I remember when this was said but switched from WW2 to Modern
I want a new Vietcong. Give me the exact same game but with updated graphics, sound effects (Though the M16 was spot on) and multiplayer. 32 players on the Creek map was great back in the day. Concealment was everywhere, it was hard to see anyone if they so much as just moved slowly, and for the time, it looked great

Not bad for 2003, was a good year for gaming
as much as i'd like to believe this, waw and cod2's mps proved that wrong, no one used the semi autos and most competitive players (read: people who wanted to do good at the game, not mlg nonsense) used mp40s or swapped for a smg at any given chance
though i'd love to see more bolt action's without scopes and shit in the current games, since those are the most satisfying things ever
I remember playing CoD2 online extensively. The 98k and Garand were used just as much, if not more, than MP40's, STG44's and Thompsons
No one ever mentions Call of Duty 3 but that game was awesome. Great gunplay too
World War 2 with exosuits.
Or WW2 with dieselpunk mecha. Those would probably be the 1940's equivalent of exosuits/power armour.
Sure we haven't done a lot of World War 2 recently in shooters, but a little twist beyond the common portrayal can't hurt too much, right? Besides going from the speed-dashing double-jumping gameplay of Advanced Warfare to the common unaugmented slog of yesteryear would be seen as a step back to the old ways of MMS, which were frankly kinda boring. In order to retain the improved gameplay of AW in an era 100 years before drones or exosuits, some technological liberties would need to be taken to preserve the fun factor, as good gameplay trumps story every time.
So basically if Sledgehammer want to do World War 2 CoD again, it would probably need to be Band of Brothers with jetpacks, as ludicrous as it might sound thematically. In addition, being that it's going back to an older era, they could probably bring back armour as well to work alongside regen, because I've got a feeling they're not going to drop the regenerating health model any time soon. In theory, you would be able to tank more damage with more armour before you'd need to regenerate, but it'd degrade throughout combat and you'd need to pick up armour off of certain enemies to regain your durability. That'd work, right?
